Ignite 4 by Angel Payne
Can love ignite a soul darkened by vengeance?

Life is beyond different as the girlfriend of a retired superhero, but to Emmalina Crist, the reward of loving Reece Richards is worth the cost. But when she comes across proof that Reece has been hiding a significant secret from her, their relationship is irrevocably rocked.
Reece might have hung up his crime-fighting leathers, but he’s continued dancing with danger by working covertly with ex-FBI hotshot Sawyer Foley to learn more about the Consortium—and how they can beat the sadistic scientists at their own game. While Reece denies revenge as his motivation for the hunt, he’s forced to reexamine his motivations when Sawyer brings a questionable ally into their inner circle—and a distraught Emma finds out.
Now, Reece has never been closer to unveiling the Consortium—but at what cost? His honor? His life? And what about the woman who has helped him redefine both? Is he willing to let Emma go in the name of vengeance? Or will their love be the light his soul truly needs?

Review: FAULTS IN FATE by Anne Malcom

Faults in Fate by Anne Malcom
Fate was a fickle mistress.
She gave Sophie immortality, magic, and a great tolerance for whisky.
She also made sure Sophie tasted death, made sure it clung to her bones, sank into her marrow.
She gave Sophie power that came from death and brought death with it.
Her own.
And everyone she knew and loved.
If she didn't learn to control it, that was.
She had been meaning to pencil it in, but the apocalypse had been licking at her combat boots and she got busy.
But she was kicking magical butt, because she was awesome.
Then the witch discovered the one thing she couldn't handle, the one thing that would offer complete destruction.
A wolf.
Her wolf.
Broken. Dangerous. Wild.
His life tangled up in hers, without a choice from either of them. A fault in fate, bringing two broken, wild, and dangerous immortals together.
Sophie quite literally screwed the pooch on this one.

ARC Review: CONTRACTED by Marni Mann

Contracted by Marni Mann
Years ago, I was burned by a woman.

I forgave, but I haven’t forgotten, and it’s a road I’ll never go down again.

My career has become my life instead. I’m Max Graham, the biggest music agent in the business. Women love me, but I don’t do love anymore. I’ve found another way to meet my needs.

Eve Kennedy—stylist to the stars and total bombshell. By far, she’s the most daring woman I’ve ever had in my bed with a sexual appetite as ferocious as mine.

We might just have the hottest sex life in Miami and LA.

We don’t date anyone else—although, sometimes, we invite someone for a night. We travel the world, and I lavish her with gifts. But she knows my career comes first.

And the best part? For the past two years, she’s been happy with our arrangement.

Or so I thought.

I’ve survived heartbreak once before, but this one could be the end of me.

ARC Review: ETERNITY'S AWAKENING by Anne Malcom

June 20, 2018

Eternity's Awakening by Anne Malcom
Heartbeats had a pesky way of complicating things.
They almost always came with the nasty side effect of humanity and finally... death.
Since Thorne came into my life, I'd been plagued with both.
Heartbeats and humanity.
Both of these things were going to be the death of me.
One way or another.
And the death of everyone I knew and loved, a list growing longer with every beat of my newly repaired—and irritating—heart.
That pesky humanity was almost as toxic as the most debilitating illness on this hunk of rock, killing more humans than any vampire could.
Love.
And there I was, attached to a slayer who I couldn't be undead without.
Friends who I was becoming increasingly attached to.
All things—people—he would take away from me.
Then he'd take me too.
But if it came to that, I'd yank out my beating heart and crush it in my hands before he could touch me.
It was lost anyway. If he won, my eternity would come to an end. As it happened, so would the world.
That only meant I couldn't lose.

My Review

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This sweet little novella was like an early birthday present from Stylo Fantôme. I’m now wishing more authors thought to do this. If you’ve read and loved any of her books, reading this is like getting to see some of your favorite characters again. She gives us a glimpse of what happened after the end of their stories and also introduces us to new characters that I can’t wait to get to know more about. For me, this was all about Jameson and Tate and their constant bickering, but it was also pretty neat to see that Tal hadn’t lost his touch after all of these years (Come find me). Honestly, reading this book was like getting a dose of happy and who can refuse that? If you’ve ever wondered what happened to your favorite characters after ‘The End’, pick up a copy of this book today!

ARC Review: THE SWEETEST OBLIVION by Danielle Lori

June 18, 2018

The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori
She’s a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds . . .

Nicknamed Sweet Abelli for her docile nature, Elena smiles on cue and has a charming response for everything. She’s the favored daughter, the perfect mafia principessa . . . or was.

Now, all she can see in the mirror’s reflection is blood staining her hands like crimson paint.

They say first impressions are everything . . .

In the murky waters of New York’s underworld, Elena’s sister is arranged to marry Nicolas Russo. A Made Man, a boss, a cheat—even measured against mafia standards. His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties. After his and Elena’s first encounter ends with an accidental glare on her part, she realizes he’s just as rude as he is handsome.

She doesn’t like the man or anything he stands for, though that doesn’t stop her heart from pattering like rain against glass when he’s near, nor the shiver that ghosts down her spine at the sound of his voice.

And he’s always near. Telling her what to do. Making her feel hotter than any future brother-in-law should. Elena may be the Sweet Abelli on the outside, but she’s beginning to learn she has a taste for the darkness, for rough hands, cigarettes, and whiskey-colored eyes. Having already escaped one scandal, however, she can hardly afford to be swept up in another.

Besides, even if he were hers, everyone knows you don’t fall in love with a Made Man . . . right?

This is a standalone forbidden romance.

The Girl and Her Ren by Pepper Winters
“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?
I’ll tell you what you do.
You hope.”

REN
Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.
To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.
Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.
But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.

DELLA
I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.
I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.
I tried to move on without him.
But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.
Until something happened.
Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.
And nothing was the same after that.

ARC Review: ON THE EDGE by CD Reiss

June 12, 2018

On the Edge by CD Reiss
"In Iraq, I promised you a bed of rose petals." He grabbed my hand under the table, tightening his grip as if he were falling from a precipice and our connection was the only thing saving him from certain death.
"They were beautiful."
"You smell like apples. Roses were wrong." There was nothing soft about his tone, but his quiet words were for me alone. "I want everything to be right for you."
"Caden, look at me."
I caught his gaze and held it. He was confident. Arrogant. Sure he had a place in the world. And under that was the man who needed me to be that place.
"If I could…" He smiled and shook his head at a silly thought he wanted to dismiss but couldn't-a contradiction in keeping with the whole man I married. "If I could write my love in the sky, it wouldn't be big enough. I'd run out of room. I'd fall out of the air trying to say it all."
He was saying it all.
Every day.
And he was falling out of the sky to do it.
