After the grim confrontation with Queen Katharine, the rebellion lies in tatters. Jules’s legion curse has been unbound, and it is up to Arsinoe to find a cure, even as the responsibility of stopping the ravaging mist lies heavy on her shoulders, and her shoulders alone. Mirabella has disappeared.

Katharine’s reign remains intact—for now. When Mirabella arrives, seemingly under a banner of truce, Katharine begins to yearn for the closeness that Mirabella and Arsinoe share. But as the two circle each other, the dead queens hiss caution—Mirabella is not to be trusted.

Soooo... you're telling me no one's safe?
I know I wanted certain things to happen. Like, certain deaths and the like. But dyammmmnnnn... I didn't expect this!

Picking up right where we left off, the story is messy. But it's the kind of mess and drama and angst I kind of live for, so I was definitely engaged. When things went left, it made me question everything I thought I knew, but I was here for it. Until I wasn't.

In the end, I was rooting for Arsinoe, my hopes and wishes and prayers went unanswered, and I'm wondering what happened. The light I wanted the sisters to find was found and it was too late to matter. I felt like weeping and I thank the author for making me feel SO FREAKING MUCH with this last book of the series.

Sons of Beasts by T.S. Joyce

May 11, 2025

All three books of this series are Paranormal Romance.
They're dual perspective with descriptive heat.

I gave all books FOUR STARS!!

Son of the Cursed Bear

Bounty Hunter, Nox Fuller, has been challenged to do the impossible. He’s supposed to bring the Red Dragon in for a year long stint in shifter prison, but this job could be the death of him. His focus should be on the hunt, but when he meets a shy shifter named Nevada, he can’t help but be distracted by the curvy beauty. He doesn’t care that she has trouble speaking to people. He’s different too. But as he finds out exactly what kind of shifter he’s falling for, he realizes he’s in way over his head. Stuck between a war with the local crew, and the fire-breathing Red Dragon, Nox has to tread very carefully. Too bad he’s the least careful bear shifter in existence. It’s not just his safety at risk as he hunts Vyr though. The closer he gets to the dragon, the more danger he and Nevada are both in.

Nevada Foxburg has a life full of secrets. One chance meeting with a feral grizzly shifter from Damon’s Mountains puts not only her at risk, but her people too. They’re doomed from the start, and she’s supposed to pair up with a shifter like her, but Nox is wild, battle-hardened, funny, sexy-as-sin, and too interesting for his own good. He makes life fun, and keeps her on her toes. But he’s got secrets too, and when she finds out he’s in her hometown hunting the most dangerous creature on earth, she has to make a choice. Stay safe deep in the sanctuary of her crew, or risk her life to have Nox’s back.

The first thing that grabbed me about this book was the humour. Being inside Nox's head had me laughing so hard at times, I was breathless. Dude had a particular way of looking at things, at handling things, and his brute strength had me fawning over him. No wonder Nevada couldn't resist him, despite the drama her attraction to him would bring.

If your a fan of found family, tight friendship bonds, and a fun time, you'll want to read this book too.

Son of Kong

Torren Taylor has a gorilla problem. The birthmark on his back says he is supposed to be the new Kong, but he wants nothing to do with his people. Shunning their traditions means his silverback is out of control and on a one-way track to crazy-town. He accepted his shortened life a long time ago, but right now all he wants to do is live long enough to for a couple last bucket list items. When a rare beauty shows up at his door and offers to keep his animal steady for two hundred bucks a week, well, he’s mighty tempted to pay to prolong his life. Especially if it means spending time with Candace, who seems to have a knack for calming dominant men. She’s a good girl gone bad, and he wants to corrupt her even further. But something’s brewing against his crew, and drawing her in closer will put her at risk. And now Torren is torn on one important decision: be selfish and live longer, or shorten Candace’s life with the danger building around the Sons of Beasts.

Candace Sumner needs a change. She’s back in Foxburg paying off big debts and taking desperate measures to do so. She had to give up her dreams to come back to her hometown, and now she wants a break from the monotony. And maybe a friend or two wouldn’t hurt either. An offer to keep a local silverback shifter steady sounds like an adventure, but when she sees Torren for the first time, her plans at aloofness are squashed. He is the type of man who is the perfect combination of sweet and deadly that could finally make her feel safe in her life. Too bad he’s going crazy, and his crew could go down in flames at any second.

Candace wanted an adventure, but she didn’t bargain for love, betrayal, and a group of the worst-best friends a shifter like her could ask for.

Unlike the first book, Torren's story had more of a serious overtone. It still had plenty of humour, but Torren was having trouble controlling his beast and his struggle was featured very heavily in this story. I loved the depth the author gave this character. I had wondered why he was so loyal to the 'destructive dragon' and what was hiding beneath his surface and I was given those answers and so much more. Candace was a welcome addition to the shenanigans of this crew and I was thrilled that even Torren, who thought he was at his end, had found his person.

Son of the Dragon

Deep in a high security shifter prison dwells the most dangerous shifter in the world. Vyr Daye is the Red Dragon, alpha to the Sons of Beasts Crew, loner, watcher, fire-breather…and he’s also completely misunderstood. The media has dragged him through the mud, his reputation is shot, and his own father helped to put him in prison for a one-year sentence. Only this prison isn’t what it seems and he’s fighting to keep his dragon alive. All he needs to do is keep steady for six more months and then he can live his life as quietly as possible with his crew, but one sexy, fast-talking prison counselor saunters in and wrecks his focus. Riyah isn’t what she seems, but no one can sense her powers besides Vyr. He’ll keep her secrets if she keeps his. And as the dragon inside of him starts losing his battle, he’ll need her help to gather his crew and pull him from the brink before it’s too late. And the more he gets to know the beguiling woman, the more he thinks she’s here for more important reasons than even he understands.

Riyah Mercer has been hired to infiltrate the shifter prison and watch Vyr’s back. He doesn’t trust her, but he doesn’t realize she is his only friend here. She can see him struggling, and can see the dragon fading. As she starts falling hard for the stoic man, she becomes determined to do anything to save him. But saving the dragon means unleashing his fire on the world, and that’s not the only danger Riyah is in. There are eyes everywhere in the prison and they are creating something monstrous down in the cell where they keep the Red Dragon. If she is caught helping the man she’s falling in love with, it could mean the end for them both.

Vyr Daye is the reason these characters were brought together and without him, they're broken. Their leader is in prison so what does the crew do? Well, they go in after him. Vyr is so much more than what he seemed in the previous books and I loved getting to really know him in this story. The author did an amazing job of highlighting his strengths and his vulnerabilities and his love interest, Riyah, was the perfect complement to both the beast and the man. Again, this book gave me tons of humour, tons of fun, and I'll definitely be reading more.

Engineer Trishara Malik once dreamed of being the first woman of color to smash the glass ceiling at WMC Purcell, but after years of dealing with white male privilege and blatant nepotism, she watches her hard-earned promotion go to her nemesis, Rafe Gallagher—the boss’s son. Teetering on the edge of burnout, Tris is stunned when she’s picked to attend WMC's corporate leadership retreat in Hawaii. It’s a chance to revive her stalled career and compete for a coveted spot in an executive training program—plus, three weeks in paradise! The only downside? Rafe is her co-attendee.

Tris plans to avoid Rafe entirely, but when she arrives in Maui, a booking error has them stuck sharing the honeymoon suite. Sure, it’s not all torture. Rafe is a smoldering ten—okay fine, an eleven—but after years of competition, they can barely stand being in the same time zone. As they vie against each other during aptitude tests and team-building exercises, Tris begins to realize Rafe might not be the villain after all. With her dreams at stake, can she learn to trust the man who might have been standing in her corner all along?

Who knew?
Seriously, you know an author can WRITE when they can switch genres and still push out a banger.

The enemies to lovers trope isn't my favourite, but the vulnerability of these characters won me over. From the start, Tris and Rafe had a spark, but she outed it before it had a chance to flourish. Instead they seemed to enjoy a constant game of one-upmanship in order to deny the chemistry that continued to grow between them.

Throw in a work trip, one room and one bed, and the undeniable becomes something hard to reject. Tris sees the truth of all that is Rafe, demolishing the image she had composed of him, illustrating all that was good in this man. And he finally had the chance to see her in a new light as well. No more walls, no more denials, and Tris was forced to see the real Rafe and how compatible they were.

I loved that the author didn't make this relationship easy. There was plenty of angst and I was kept on my toes as to whether these two would even end up together. And that workplace drama... oooh, those microagressions could have been worse, I'm sure. As a woman of colour, I know the negative part of the corporate world all too well, but I'm pleased with the way that Tris handled all of it, even when she was just going along to get along.

Rafe was my favourite character and Tuli described him in such a delicious way. How am I supposed to resist a hero like him???

Harper Browning is a struggling, twenty-four-year-old grad student that has been looking for the perfect man in all of the wrong places. Her search for her fantasy romantic bad boy always ends up in disappointment, but a chance invitation to attend a seemingly innocent party take her to a whole other world.

Mason Asher always gets what he wants, for his clients and for himself, except when it comes to love. He can seamlessly fulfill their fantasies, but not his own, until he sees Harper. Now Mason won't give up until both of their desires are met.

**This is a hot, steamy, sexy and seductive romance series that is ideal for fans of J.S. Scott, Cassie Cross and Hannah Ford.**

The premise of this series is what really intrigued me. The storyline was great and was written so well that I was convinced that Patti from Millionaire Matchmaker (or someone with similar characteristics) was going to make a cameo appearance. No such luck lol. However, I didn't really connect to the plot. The pacing, for one, didn't make it realistic to me. It was hard for me to accept that Jake, the man who told Harper not to let the door hit her on the way out, then became so obsessed with her as to stalk her and assault Mason. I wasn't sold on this idea. Also, I got upset with the way that Harper grouped Mason in with guys like Jake. He only omitted his last name and the fact that he was wealthy. And any fool would have put two and two together. She should have been mad with herself. On top of that, when she suspected he may have been hurt, she did nothing!! Not cool!! Why was she calling anyone else but him????

In the end, it was a good story with huge potential to be great!

The Fairy Tale Heat series by Lidiya Foxglove

February 03, 2025

Four interconnected tales for readers who like their fairy tale retellings with an adorable happily ever after and a side of serious steaminess!

Beauty and the Goblin King-- They say the Goblin King will give a gold coin for every night a girl spends with him. I shouldn't be intrigued. Everyone whispered about him. But when my father lost his money, all my wonderings came true.

These Wicked Revels-- If I give my mask away, will I belong to the fairy king forever? A retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses!

Rapunzel and the Dark Prince-- It gets pretty lonely, spending your entire life in a tower. The Witch told me she was keeping me safe from a dangerous world. But one day, when I let down my hair, the Witch wasn't the one to climb up.

The Beggar Princess-- As the only princess of a prosperous kingdom, I have wanted for nothing--and refused all suitors. The lastthing I expected was for my mild-mannered father to insist I marry the next man who walks in the door, even if he's apeasant...and what do you know? But maybe he's not what he seems. A retelling of King Thrushbeard.

My Favorite Story: Rapunzel and the Dark Prince. I gave it 4 stars!
Rapunzel was used to a lonely life, high up in her tower. Her only company was the witch who isolated her. She amused herself with cleaning, making clothes, braiding and unbraiding her hair, talking to the birds, and reading children's books. Prince Dorin is a darkling, tail and all. He's looking for his bond mate and she happens to be Rapunzel. They mate and bond and she talks a lot and not only was their relationship funny and sweet and hot, but it felt natural to me. I only wish their story was longer!

The other stories include: ✦ Beauty and the Goblin King (4 stars) - Sabela was the youngest sisters, the one called 'Beauty'. When her family's circumstances change for the worst, they ask her to sacrifice herself for them. Years ago, the Goblin King sent out a message - Any young, unmarried woman willing to come to his castle would receive one gold piece for every night she spent there. Seeing as Sabela was fascinated with the King anyway, she didn't see the big deal. And when she finally met him, she knew there was more to him and his story than first perceived. There was a curse and she was determined to break it. ✦ These Wicked Revels (3 stars) - Evaline was the youngest with eleven sisters, the daughter of a pious and stern queen, and she was desperate for a bit of freedom. When her last sister is married off, she tells Eva "Never give your mask away." It takes years for Eva to understand what she meant. Eva was naive and foolish and rebellious and everything you'd expect of someone held virtually prisoner in her kingdom. She knew nothing of fun and the King of the Revels brought her into a world filled with music and dancing and laughter and ease. She never wanted to leave and the King never wanted to let her go. Her sexuality was awakening and he couldn't wait to take advantage. Too bad Will, the cobbler in her kingdom, insisted on standing in the way. I really liked Will. He was a broken hero, a disillusioned soldier, and I only wished that Evaline was a better woman for him. ✦ The Beggar Princess (3 stars) - While not as funny as my favorite of this series, this story was still pretty great. Princess Bethany questioned a woman's role in society. She didn't think that just because she happened to be born female that she should be forced to conform to societal norms. She would not marry. She would continue to write novels that tantalized the realms. She would choose how she would live because that was her right. She was spoiled, entitled, rude and unappreciative. Her father, the very man who created her this way, had finally had enough and stated that she would wed. After gathering all the eligible bachelors and having her turn them all away with outright impertinence and discourtesy, he tells her that she will marry the very next man who comes in. And that's what happens. While Bethany thinks Jack is a simple basket weaver and that she's destined for a life of poverty, we all know that he's actually King Brennus, the ruler of a prosperous kingdom. He's determined to teach his princess some humility and after many lessons, one of which was unplanned and downright scary, she did and all was better for it. I really enjoyed this tale!

I loved how the author took these classic tales and gave them her own unique twists. They were sexy and twisted and absolutely lovely, satisfying this retelling fan completely!

There are way more books in this series and I'll definitely be reading them at some point.

Infinite Crisis

Infinite Crisis

Release: 2005-2006
Length: 241 pages
Geoff Johns (Author), Phil Jimenez (Illustrator, Artist), George Perez (Illustrator)

OMAC robots are rampaging, magic is dying, villains are uniting, and a war is raging in space. And in the middle of it all, a critical moment has divided Earth's three greatest heroes: Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. It's the DCU's darkest day, and long-lost heroes from the past have returned to make things right in the universe...at any cost. Heroes will live, heroes will die, and the DCU will never be the same again!

This exhaustive volume also contains every cover and variant produced for the project, annotations, character designs, excerpts from scripts, unused scenes, and much more.

I've never read this collection in its totality and I'm so glad I finally did!

Know that there will probably be spoilers sprinkled around in here so if you don't want that, click away. I enjoyed this crisis and I hope you did or will too.

Okay, so let's get down to it.

I was immediately surprised to see Supergirl because there was no explanation for how she was resurrected after Crisis on Infinite Earths. I guess we're just supposed to go along with it. My theory is that after the Universe was reset, her arrival on Earth happened like it did before and no one is supposed to be the wiser (except the audience, of course). I wish there was more of an explanation for instances such as this, but I guess I should be happy for whatever I get.

My question is: What about Barry Allen?

Yeah, I know he comes back in Rebirth, but they both sacrificed themselves during the previous Crisis. How did they make that choice?

Power Girl featured heavily in this collection, which I loved because she is one of my favorite female heroes. My heart broke for her and the Superman and Lois of Earth 2. Can you imagine being the sole survivors of an entire Earth?

Superboy-Prime was just as much of a jerk as I remembered. Dude had no freaking chill!!

I knew the truth about Alex, but watching his despicable actions in their fullness was hard to read. He was surprisingly worse than I remembered and I laughed SO HARD during his final scene with the Joker.

My beloved Superboy died (again for me because I already knew this part), but my consolation is that the Legion revives him in the future so although I'm heartbroken right now, it's more bittersweet than devastating.

There were so many appearances from familiar heroes such as Nightwing, Robin, Batman, Arrow, Black Canary, Mr. Terrific, Black Lightning, Wonder Girl, and the like and from those not so familiar. And there was so much death. Again, so many people died and I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone rebuilds the destruction featured in this collection.

I'm giving this FIVE STARS because I couldn't stop turning the pages. I laughed, I almost cried, I gasped, and I was excited. I was entertained exceptionally well and that is all that I can ask for.

Books That Didn't Make the Cut Pt.30

November 12, 2024

Hello hello! I'm back with a series that didn't really work for me, but might be a winner for you. It is called The Billionaire's Bet by Clarissa Wild.

I've read other books by this author and LOVED them, but these books were a miss for me. It's an erotic romance story with elements of BDSM and definitely not my cup of tea.

Let me know if you've read this one or plan to. I'd love to know your thoughts :)

About the series:

~A Seductive Deal

Julie Valentine's soul searching turned out to be a bad case of the author blues. Having just broken up with her boyfriend, she goes to a casino in the hopes of relaxing and getting her mind straight, while rekindling her passion for books, but not even a nice glass of wine seems to work. Writing steamy romances requires more than just leisure time.

When she meets the billionaire Dominic Fury, a handsome blue-eyed kind ladies' man, his charms win her over. Maybe spending a night with him will give her plenty of inspiration. It turns out Dominic has a seductive request for her, one she cannot refuse.

~A Hot Call

After a steamy night with hot billionaire Dominic Fury, author Julie Valentine wants more from him. The sexy experience has left a mark on her she cannot ignore. She can finally write some heavy romance again and agrees to a contract with Dominic.

What she doesn't know, is that Dominic has some dark secrets of his own and he's not eager to spill. Soon she discovers his dominant side might be more than just a playful show and she has to decide whether she wants to stay with him or not. Both of them have a past that controls their growing relationship, forcing them to choose. Is their will to be loved stronger than their will to survive?

~A Risky Raise

Julie Valentine has chosen to stay with hot billionaire Dominic Fury, despite the fact that he has unresolved issues from his past. She's falling for him and can't resist his charms any longer. Passion and love are plentiful in their relationship and it gives her inspiration for her books.

But their future together is shrouded by a past filled with dark secrets. Dominic's choice to hide important facts put a strain on their relationship, but when Julie uncovers them she's thrown into a dangerous plot; one that could lead to her death.

~A Final Game

Julie Valentine has barely escaped from the hands of death, and billionaire Dominic Fury confessed his dark secrets to her. She finally understands the magnitude of his problems and doesn't know what to do. She takes some time off to be on her own, but she can't get Dominic off her mind. Trying to make things work with him is harder than she could've imagined, but their connection is too strong to ignore.

But the past haunting Dominic isn't going to let him go easily. This time, it's his life that's on the line. Determined to save Dominic, Julie sets out to destroy what's hurting him, risking her own life in the process. Pain is around every corner, but she'll fight until the very end. The game has only just begun ...

My Rating -

I didn't particularly enjoy this one. I'm not sure if it is because each book in the series is less than 100 pages but there was a huge disconnect between me and this story. The plot idea itself was good but rushed and underdeveloped. I like character development and getting a chance to love, like or hate a character. I felt absolutely nothing for these characters. Neither good nor bad.

Now I'm stuck reading the next 3 books because I made a vow to never quit when I start a series. I refuse to quit now!

Please Note: I read the other three books of the series, didn't review them, and rated them all TWO STARS!!

Week's Romance Series by Sarah J. Brooks

November 11, 2024

Please Note: I read this series back in 2016 and it's a dual perspective contemporary romance. Take my reviews with a grain of salt.

About the series:

Becka Jasper is a graduate student on the fast track to a successful career as a researcher. Oliver Weeks is the CEO of a major food research corporation - a powerful and handsome alpha male, that not only knows what he wants, but also gets what he wants.

And soon enough, he wants Becka.

Brought together when Becka sits in on one of Oliver’s guest teaching lectures, they connect and discover a chemistry neither is prepared for. Becka soon finds herself wanting more from Oliver than just the internship she originally envisioned, but, almost from the start, she sees signs that Oliver may not be exactly what he seems to be.

Passionate Weeks

Well I liked it. I think I was a bit surprised that there was so much packed into such a short book/novella. I'm intrigued by both Becka and Dr. Oliver Weeks. I got a lot of information but I'm left with questions, which is a good thing because that's what will keep me coming back for more. I want to know what his side business is. And if the story of his background that he told Becka is a lie, what's the truth? Now that they've consummated their 'relationship' (although Oliver keeps saying he's not looking for one), what does this mean for Becka's possible internship at his company?

Four stars.

*****

Lovely Weeks

I really like the writing of this author. She's made a sucker out of me because I'm completely sucked in the plot! Her characters, Becka and Oliver, are extremely sweet together and apart. The slow build of their relationship makes it realistic. And they are both so intelligent, which is a definite plus in my book. This is not a fast-paced series and I think the pacing is perfect. I'm really interested in reading further because I need to know what secrets Oliver is keeping. I hope they're not too bad. This couple belongs together!

Four stars.

*****

Exciting Weeks

Another 'exciting' installment to this series. I had a couple of problems with it though.

1. The fact that Becka had a full blown attraction to her student, Ethan, while involved with Oliver. So not cool!

2. The fact that Becka is sneaking around behind Oliver's back, researching animal testing, and keeping secrets. They're both keeping secrets and it's annoying me lol! I want answers!!

3. If Becka finds out that Oliver is involved with animal testing, then what?

Four stars.

*****

Crazy Weeks

Still good but I'm officially confused. Mild spoilers ahead and I'm sorry for that. OK, when Ethan is first introduced, he's a 21yo student in Becka's class. But in this book, he's much older, filthy rich, and oh yeah, he was Oliver's best friend and business partner once upon a time. WTH?! Did I miss something??? And damn Becka for betraying her relationship to Oliver in this book. There's no real cheating but she went too far. So I liked everyone but her in this one.

Four stars.

*****

Ecstatic Weeks

Wow. The author got me to hate Becka within 37 pages. Quite a feat. For the entire book, my right hand kept itching to give this girl (cuz a woman she definitely ain't) a pimp slap. What the heck is going on??? Why did you change this character so dramatically??? Now she's a slut? Willing to sleep with all hot guys she sees? Thank you for not actually letting her sleep with them, but my sympathies to Oliver. He caught himself an undercover ho-bag! I kept trying to make excuses for her, like she's very young. But no. Excuses just won't fly. She can't decide between the man she's been involved with since book one and his brother??? Then she wants to sleep with a random dude to get both men out of her system??? Then... then... then the loser decides she wants Oliver after all!!! I hope he finds someone new cuz this chick is a waffler and has no clue who she truly is or what she wants.

Because of this rant, and I could continue but I've decided to spare you, I could only give this book 2 stars. And those stars are for Oliver alone!!

Two stars.

*****

Fearful Weeks

Ya, I didn't think it was possible, but it's a new record. My hate has been escalated within 28 pages. I hate you Becka. I really do. And any girl in real life who resembles her, I hate you too. I'm just saying. This chick went from hero to zero real quick. How the heck do you suspect something happened to your man by the hands of his brother, but then somehow convince yourself that sleeping with broski is OK? On what planet is this normal? Your man is freaking missing!! Wth is wrong with this character? And shame on you Ms. Brooks for giving Ethan a POV.

One star

*****

Dangerous Weeks

The author's writing is still great and thankfully she chose to redeem Becka (slightly) in this book. There are still 3 more books in the series so who knows. Oliver disappeared then reappeared (Polkaroo) and Ethan and his lies/deceptions/secrets are still annoying. At least Oliver finally revealed the truth to Becka (and me most importantly) so hopefully this is a sign that the series will progress in a more positive fashion.

Three stars.

*****

Wild Weeks

I'm staying neutral when it comes to Becka. I have no feelings. However, I think it's pretty hilarious that her friend has to explain the reasons why she should stay true to her man. Why is that? Because Becka, for as smart as this series wants to make her out to be, is an idiot. Even Ethan stated she should use her scientific mind. Ha ha ha, where did that mind go again? Chick misplaced it. And she's too busy making paranoid assumptions and accusations, and having fantasies about other men, to look for it. I'm still Team Oliver. Becka can kick rocks.

Three stars.

*****

Thrilling Weeks

I hate that I'm not a quitter, cuz if I was, I would have left this series a few books ago. I feel like all I'm getting is filler, no substance. It's all nonsense this and nonsense that. But nothing is really happening. Oliver has a 'plan' and then takes Becka to Paris. There they share I love yous with NO fanfare!! I didn't believe it, did you? And still the story isn't really moving along, except now there are two lines on a pregnancy test. It's like things are thrown together to give us, the readers, something while giving us nothing at all.

Three stars.

*****

Dramatic Weeks

Well that's the end. Wrapped up with a shiny bow. Becka is pregnant, Oliver remains by her side, Lisa is traumatized, and crazy Ethan got his just dessert. I can't say I'm satisfied with this conclusion, but I am proud of myself for finishing it. So that's something. I will say that I will give this author another chance sometime in the near future because she writes amazingly well and can only improve with time and practice.

Three stars.

The Edge Series by Ellie Danes

November 04, 2024

Please Note: I read this series back in 2016 and it's a dual perspective contemporary romance. Take my reviews with a grain of salt.

About the series:

Allison Mahoney is the hardest working employee at Tolbert & Tolbert. She gets in early and stays late, all to impress her boss, who doesn't even know she exists.

Joshua Tolbert dates supermodels, drives fast cars and runs the planet's most success dating site. Lucky in love and life, Joshua has it all, including a jealous brother and partner that barely gets any recognition at all.

After being dismissed and ignored by her secret love, Allison turns to the one place she never thought she would in order to find love.

Edge of Attraction

I'm not sure what to write about this. I gave it 3 stars because the writing wasn't bad even though I couldn't connect with the characters. Allison seems really 'sweet' but her personality doesn't quite match that of a typical 32 yo. She reminded me of a character I'd find in a young adult story. Cue the juvenile crush. It's just unrealistic for a grown up. And Joshua annoyed me as soon as he called her 'Abby'.

I predict I'll get frustrated with this series. We'll see.

Edge of Lust

I can't even call this book a romance! The main characters go on a blind date and there's no chemistry. Like absolutely none. Use of a magnifying glass or microscope won't help me find any!! Dude doesn't even recognize her in real life. Why on why was this Allison person made out to be so pathetic? I couldn't even feel sorry for hger because she was in a bed she made herself. I hope she grows a spine in the books to come. And can I get a little romance while we're at it?

Two stars.

Edge of Desire

Still not a romance. Still no real chemistry. But at least Allison and Joshua had sex. Kinda. It's loosely described let's say. I still think she's a dunce and he's a superficial douche. At least he finally knows she's the same Allison from work.

Idiot.

Three stars. Kinda.

Edge of Passion

I swear. These dang titles are so misleading. Where the heck was the passion in this book? The way these characters passionately talk to themselves? Or maybe it's the way they passionately avoid even a smidgen of real intimacy? The only real excitement in this story didn't even come from the MCs. It came from Joshua's brother Jamie. And the drama wasn't even all that great.

I will say that I do like how this author frames her work. I have no complaints there. Call me greedy, but I just want more. Being intense is not a bad thing. I want my attention snagged to the point that I forget my responsibilities. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Three stars.

Edge of Ecstasy

Okay so the MCs weren't so bad in this one. The parts on the yacht made me finally see the viability of their relationship. It's looking good now and I hope it gets better and more real. I've got to say that Jamie is still the best character in the series so far. He may be a sneaky, lazy, manipulative dickwad, but his character has depth. Which is a lot more than I can say for the MCs.

Three stars.

Edge of Love

I can say that I was more impressed with Allison in Joshua in this book than any other book in the series. I could sense their connection finally. I'm not sure if its enough for them to be throwing the 'love' word around like they have, but they've definitely come a long way in convincing me of their relationship.

Three stars.

Edge of Bliss

Best book by far in this series. I'm a sucker for a HEA and this book offered that to me in spades. The connection between Allison and Joshua was much stronger here than in previous books and I'm glad my patience paid off. Everything was practically wrapped up in a neat bow. I'm just curious about the futures of Christopher and Jamie. I hope they each get to meet their HEA one day too!

Four stars.

Overall, I gave this series THREE STARS. Are you thinking of reading it? And if you've already read it, what did you rate it?
