Two broken souls. One last chance.

Avery never expected to take another chance at love. Until she's thrown a curve ball she isn't anticipating – a man that causes her pulse to race and also happens to be one of her bosses. Logan doesn't trust women. Period. But a one-night stand cut short exposes him to a mysterious woman that flips his world upside down. He didn’t predict meeting her - the one that would make him question everything. Undeterred by her need to keep him at an arm's length, he goes against everything he believes in the quest to prove that they're worth fighting for.

My Thoughts

★★★★✩

Coming Alive turned out to be far more of an emotional read than I expected. Avery knew loss. They had an up close and personal relationship. It seemed that everyone she cared about, everyone she could possibly love, would die. Born into suffering, she had many chances at happiness and each one was snatched away well before its time. Then she meets Logan. The connection she felt to him, the same one he felt to her, could not be denied. But she tried. She knew that whatever she had felt before would be nothing compared to what she'd feel for him. So she tried to protect herself. You can't suffer if you don't know what you're missing, right? Too bad Logan wasn't letting her go.

I loved the way the friendship/relationship grew between Logan and Avery. He had his own issues from his past that left him jaded and distrustful of women. He believed that he'd live his life as a confirmed bachelor with a different woman warming his bed every night. All those thoughts go out the window when he catches a glimpse of Avery. She made him realize what it was to love and be truly loved. She gave him reasons to dream. Their bond was the stuff dreams are made of.

I really enjoyed this story and I'm glad I took a chance on this new-to-me author. She won my heart with the first book of her Welcome to Carson series and I'll definitely be back for more.

About the Author
Renee Harless is a romance writer with an affinity for wine and a passion for telling a good story.

Renee Harless, her husband, and children live in Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She studied Communication, specifically Public Relations, at Radford University.

Growing up, Renee always found a way to pursue her creativity. It began by watching endless runs of White Christmas- yes even in the summer – and learning every word and dance from the movie. She could still sing "Sister Sister" if requested. In high school she joined the show choir and a community theatre group, The Troubadours. After marrying the man of her dreams and moving from her hometown she sought out a different artistic outlet – writing.

To say that Renee is a romance addict would be an understatement. When she isn’t chasing her toddler or preschooler around the house, working her day job, or writing, she jumps head first into a romance novel.
