Undefeated by Helen Hardt
Erin Hamilton follows Dante Gabriel back into hell—the underground compound where he was held for a decade—to confront the woman who held him captive. Finally unmasked, she seems to hold Dante under her influence. Erin has faith in Dante’s strength and determination, though, especially when the mysterious Vampyre Texts reveal their first secret.
Dante struggles to regain his control, even as he grows stronger and the darkness rises within him. He’ll let his captor think she commands him as long as it serves his purpose, but if Erin or anyone else is threatened, all bets are off. He’ll use all his powers against her, whether or not he can master them.
Time is running out, however. Dante must act quickly to free those imprisoned, especially when he learns what his captor has in mind. His new abilities keep those around him protected until she who calls herself Queen plays her trump card. Dante must face one last foe…and only one can emerge undefeated.

My Review

★★★★✩

Dante has made his way back to his own version of hell. We now know exactly who the Queen is (and yes, I was right), but are still unclear of what she's really up to. With everyone underground in her world, answers start flooding in and her ambitions are incredible. Her plans are a bit radical and a lot insane and this volume was all about taking her down and saving everyone she's been holding captive. The darkness that continues to haunt Dante becomes more of an integral part of this story and I loved the many descriptors that were used for its presence. I swear, the author is constantly making Dante hotter, making it hard for me to let go.

So there's Dante, Erin, River, Jay, and Dante's ghost dad, all searching for their loved ones, encountering old acquaintances, and finding out why the Gabriels were targeted. While dealing with the repercussions of their presence in an unauthorized area, Erin and Dante still found time to have sex and strengthen their bond. There's no doubt that these two are very much in love. Parts of the story became repetitive and made it drag a bit, but I was still as thoroughly entertained as I expected to be.

I think coming up with a stunning ending for a saga is hard for both the author and the reader. As much as I was clamoring for the conclusion to the Blood Bond Saga, I didn't really want to say goodbye to Dante. Thankfully the author left a huge hint that the story isn't really over.
