Review: Bring Down the Stars by Emma Scott

Bring Down the Stars by Emma Scott
I fell for Connor Drake. I didn’t want to; I fought against it, but I fell in love with him anyway. With his words. With his poetry. With him. The gentleness and beauty of his soul that speaks directly to mine. He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow.

I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way, and yet there’s electricity in the air between us. The thorny barbs Weston wraps around himself can’t keep me away.

But the more time I spend with these men, the more tangled and confused my emotions become. When they both sign up for the Army Reserves during a time of increasing strife in the Middle East, I fear I’ll never unravel my own heart that sometimes feels as if it will tear straight down the middle…for both of them.

My Review

★★★★★

Two best friends + one naive girl = tons of heartachingly beautiful moments

Wow! Seriously... WOW!! It's been a long time since I've been shocked into silence. It took me awhile to figure out how to put my thoughts and feelings into words. This story was heartbreakingly stunning and although I hate love triangles, Emma Scott made me a fan (at least for this duet).

I went into this story completely blind. I didn't read the blurb. I didn't read reviews. I just knew that this author had come highly recommended and I took the leap. No regrets! I immediately thought of Cyrano and found it funny that when I finally looked at the blurb, that was exactly this author's intention. Well done, madame. Bellissima!

Connor saw her first. Weston spoke to her first. Autumn saw Connor first and liked what she saw. With Wes, she could be her true self, but she fell in love with words on paper. One best friend helping another, because that's what best friends do, turns into a lot of pain and confusion and eventually unrequited love. So what happens when love blossoms despite it all?

It's incredibly hard to pick a favorite hero when I love them both. Okay, yeah, Weston obviously eked out a bit more affection from me, but that's because the boy was a broody, moody, broken babe. My heart always opens up wide for the tortured hero. Here's this guy who is always looking out for others. He wants to ensure everyone's happiness without taking his own into consideration. And so he always loses out. ALWAYS! And it broke my heart 😢

I wasn't fully prepared for the cliffhanger and I'm hoping this story doesn't end the way most love triangles do. I hope there's still room for character growth and a swoon-worthy journey to happily ever after. I'm putting a lot of trust in this new-to-me author's writing, but with what I've read so far, I'm not wrong to do so.
