ARC Review: RENNER'S RULES by K. Webster

March 10, 2018

Renner's Rules by K Webster
I’m a bad girl.
I was sent away.
New house. New rules. New school.
Change was supposed to be…good.

Until I met him.

No one warned me Principal Renner would be so hot.
I’d expected some old, graying man in a brown suit.
Not this.
Not well over six feet of lean muscle and piercing green eyes.
Not a rugged-faced, ax-wielding lumberjack of a man.

He’s grouchy and rude and likes to boss me around.
I find myself getting in trouble just so he’ll punish me.
Especially with his favorite metal ruler.

Being bad never felt so good.

REVIEW

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adam Renner nearly died while fighting in the war and owes his life to his best friend, Mateo Bonilla. Over the years, they’ve kept in touch and Renner has never forgotten what Bonilla did for him. So when Mateo asks Adam for a favor, how can he tell him no? The favor - take care of his little girl, who is grieving after they lost his wife to cancer. No problem, right? Wrong! Because Karelma (Elma) is far from being a little girl. She’s a sexy 18-year-old knockout that Renner can’t stop thinking about. C’mon, the guy’s walking around with a constant hard-on for the girl. He’s the principal. She’s a student. Legal or not, it would be wrong to give in… right?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was short but had quite a bit of meat to it. Renner came home from the war with more than just the physical scars of his ordeal. Dealing with PTSD, I liked the way the author wove it into his personality. It didn’t get too deep but added depth to his character. I really liked that although Elma was young, she wasn’t totally innocent, which worked with the whole older man/younger woman dynamic that was going on. If you like the touch of something dirty to go with your romance, this taboo treat may be just what you’re looking for!

  1. This was one of the only K Webster books that didn't excite me as much as usual. Is it really that good?

    1. I was hesitant too! It's different from what she usually does. It has more of a contemporary taboo feel. So NO DARK!!
