What is the one thing you shouldn’t do when your wife leaves you? Sleep with your best friend’s sister.

It’s too bad Roan Reddick never got that piece of advice before he fell into bed with Mia Cavalano. She’s smart, sassy, and sexy as hell. She’s also the only woman to flip his world upside down since his wife. And she’s leaving for college in two days, which is good considering he’s not looking for a relationship, not now, not with the agony that lives inside him from his past. But Roan can’t kick the craving he now has for Mia.

One choice changed everything.

After years away, Mia realizes she and Roan just aren’t meant to be. So she vows to keep her focus on her career and forget about the one-night stand that rocked her world so long ago. But when work transfers her back to Boston, a place that holds so many memories, she has no choice but to go. All she has to do is stick to her plan and keep her focus on work, which should be easy, right?

Besides, in a city of half a million people, how hard can it be to avoid the perfect bastard?

MY REVIEW

Mia had crushed on Roan for years and one day all of her dreams came true when she ended up in bed with him. Then those dreams came crashing down when she woke up the next morning and he was gone. Determined to move on, she went off to college and ended up landing her dream job… right back in Boston. Avoiding Roan was impossible as he was her brother’s best friend and business partner, but she wasn’t opposed to giving him the cold shoulder, even if her heart never stopped belonging to him.

When Roan left Mia, it was with good intentions. Still reeling from his wife abandoning him and their young daughters, he wasn’t in any position to be in a relationship. He had nothing to offer and as amazing as Mia was, he felt she deserved someone who could give her the world. It just wasn’t him. But what happens when Mia finally gets him to see that he can have happiness again?

The Perfect Bastard was my first read from LK Collins and based on what I’ve read, it definitely won’t be the last. With a title like that, I expected the hero to be a jerk or a manwhore that needed some taming. But alas, that wasn’t the case. I found a story that was jam-packed with some of my favorite tropes along with a hero who was very easy to like. The story of Roan and Mia was a mix of big brother’s best friend, second chance, and hot single father romance all tied into one. How could I not be entertained? Throw in those sizzling hot sex scenes and call me riveted!!
