Length: 250 pages

Lucius Vinemont has spirited me away to a world of sugar cane and sun. There is nothing he cannot give me on his lavish Cuban plantation. Each gift seduces me, each touch seals my fate. There is no more talk of depraved competitions or his older brother – the one who’d stolen me, claimed me, and made me feel things I never should have. Even as Lucius works to make me forget Sinclair, my thoughts stray back to him, to the dark blue eyes that haunt my sweetest dreams and bitterest nightmares. Just like every dream, this one must end. Christmas will soon be here, and with it, the second trial of the Acquisition.

Full disclosure: This book is a dark romance with elements of slavery, violence, BDSM, and super-hot sex. It is the second book of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. If you're good with these caveats, enjoy.

My Review

Counsellor - ★★★☆☆

Now that's what I'm talking about.

better

This book gave me much more of what I expected from the series. It was raw, deep, a bit scary, emotional, tragic, etc. The connection that was lacking in book 1 was found here in book 2.

Stella showed strength in the ave of her oppressors (the Sovereign) and I was impressed by her moxie when she had to endure the Christmas trial. All the while she tried to deny how far she had fallen for Sinclair. As for Sin, I liked him even more. He definitely came through and redeemed himself, not only in Stella's eyes, but mine as well. And once again, these two were hella hot together.

I can't even imagine what's going to happen in book 3. Stella wants to tear the sovereignty apart, but she's going to need help. Can she count on Sinclair and Lucius? So exciting!!
