Officially Over It by Lani Lynn Vale

...sooner or later, he was going to find out that I f--king loved him. That I would do absolutely anything for him, even take out my heart and hand it to him if he asked. Nathan didn't understand the depth of my feelings, and I seriously wanted to keep it that way.

Going from a professional baseball player to a SWAT officer should’ve been seamless. Should have been.

But it wasn’t.

All it took was one single calendar shoot for word to spread that Nathan Cox was not only no longer playing professional baseball, but he was also the man behind saving the life of Reggie Morton, the City of Kilgore’s princess.
***
Reggie didn’t know that by agreeing to provide the expertise and the know-how for the Police Officer’s Ball that she would be required to actually attend the function.

What she also didn’t expect was needing to be saved—again—by the same man that had saved her life a year ago when she hosted her debut event.

This time in a not-nearly-as-spectacular way. The moment she falls into his arms like a modern-day Cinderella and takes him in in all his three-piece suited glory, she realizes that she’s been fighting the impossible.

Nathan Cox owns her. Body and soul.

Tug.
Tug.
TUUUUUUGGGGGGGG!!
Officially Over It pulled, jerked, and yanked at my heart strings... and I loved every minute of it!

Reggie and Nathan have known each other their whole lives. They played together, vacationed together, competed against each other, and were virtually raised together. They knew how to press each other's buttons, how to push, how to irritate, and yet they always had each other's backs. Why? Because no matter what they put the other through, they loved each other. Deeply. Too bad neither of them knew it.
It's okay. I'm on 500 mg of Fuckitall. - Text from Reggie to Nathan
Retired professional baseball player turned cop, Nathan's life has always been exciting. The only thing missing has been Reggie. While she was there, she wasn't there and he wanted her in a bad way. When his toxic ex-girlfriend comes back around to stir up trouble, Reggie's just the one he needs to keep him balanced. Their shared secret is just the right touch to tip the scales in his favor and maybe while she's there, helping him, giving him a much-needed shoulder, he can convince her to also give him her heart.
He growled and yanked my hair, pulling my head back and exposing my neck to him.
That's when I decided to stop talking.
Talking obviously wasn't getting me anywhere. At least, it wasn't getting me where I wanted.
And every time that I opened my mouth he stopped what he was doing.
I didn't want him to stop. Not at all.
I wanted him to start and never stop.
I wanted him to devour me.
I wanted him so badly that I couldn't see straight. Couldn't think. Couldn't function but on the most basic of levels.
But boy, could I feel.
I laughed, chuckled, gasped and even cried. Each scene evoked such emotion from me, I couldn't help but give this story all the stars. I got to see so many of my favorite characters and was able to add two more to the bunch. Now I'm super excited for Malachi's story because if anyone deserves some happiness, it's that guy.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
