WWW Wednesday - August 5

August 05, 2020

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words.

The three W’s stand for:

What did you recently finish reading?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Once again this week, I got the chance to read more books than usual. I can't tell you how happy I am to get back into some heavy reading. I was in the weirdest slump EVER and I'm so glad to finally be out of it. The books I've finished are:

Leo by Jay McLean - this was an ARC and it was more gut-wrenching than I expected it to be. This author is really great at creating beloved characters and angst-filled plots and she seriously messed with my mind and heart with this story.

The Promised Neverland by Kaiu Shirai - this was a buddy read with my daughters and while I was close to done for a while, I had to wait for them to catch up. They're actually creating their own blog and I can't wait to put a review for this together for them to post on there!

Vixen by Rebecca Zanetti - this was another ARC and it was the best of both worlds... one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite publishers. I love the novellas created for 1001 Dark Nights and this one was a definite winner with it's paranormal suspense and awesomeness.

Any Day Now by Lani Lynn Vale - another ARC and it's by one of my favorite authors. This was an easy read with plenty of laughs. The characters fell easily and beautifully and it was wonderful.

Undeniable by Aleatha Romig - this ARC was for a novella in her Indulgence series. It's a quick, dirty read and hits the spot when in need of some smutty goodness.

The Prince's Bride by J.J. McAvoy - I requested this ARC from NetGalley without realizing that it was part of a duet. The cliffhanger on this one was intense. I got it because of the author and I enjoyed the premise of the story. It's an interracial, royal, arranged marriage troped story and I am still down to wait for book two.

What I'm currently reading:

A Reckless Note by Lisa Renee Jones - book one of her brand new trilogy, LRJ introduces us to Aria and Kace. Aria's desperate to find her brother and find a connection to her family's heritage while also developing a sexy connection to music prodigy and rockstar, Kace August. This ARC is good and I can't wait to continue the story in book two.

Tempted by Anna Ray - the author directed me to a copy of this book, found in KU, and it's okay so far. It's not my typical read though. There's little as far as character development goes and the plot is more plodding than moving, but I'm hoping it will pick up soon.

What I'm reading next... probably one of these...

The Princess Knight by G.A. Aiken - I got the ARC and I can't tell you how excited I am. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and I'm hoping this one lives up to my expectations. This fantasy story is one of my anticipated reads for 2020.

The Business of Lovers by Eric Jerome Dickey - Woo hoo!! I got the ARC and I can't tell you how eager I am to dive in. It's been a long time since I've read something from this author and I'm excited to see if it's anything like I remember.

Guardian's Grace by Rebecca Zanetti - another ARC from one of my favorite authors. I absolutely adore the Dark Protectors series and after getting another glimpse of Adare and the hard time he gets from Grace in Vixen, I imagine things won't be any easier for him in this book 😉😉

Don't Hex and Drive by Juliette Cross - another ARC from another one of my favorite authors. I've been told that the hero in this story beats out the incredible hero from the first book in the series. I say 'no freaking way'. So I'm hoping to love this book but also be proven right.

My Fallen Saint by J. Kenner - and it's another ARC. This is the first book in her brand new Fallen Saint series and it sounds like the hero is a tortured alpha, which happens to be my favorite.

  11. I totally agree with you on Leo. That one put me through more than I was expecting. I'm really curious to see if she will continue the series for the last 3 boys or if that was it. I would really like a Lachlan book at least. Happy reading!

    1. OMG I would love a Lachlan book! The baby has grown so much and I've always loved that little sweetheart. I do wonder if she'll do books for the rest. I think books for the twins would be interesting as well.

    1. Honestly? Not as great as the other books in the series, but still quite enjoyable. It had similarities with one of her previous novellas, Tricked, where someone is dying but is saved by mating.
