WWW Wednesday - July 15

July 15, 2020

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words.

The three W’s stand for:

What did you recently finish reading?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

This week was a bit busier than last week. I'm still not reading as much as I used to, but I'm getting there.

I've just finished reading the following two books:

Hail by Crimson Syn is an MC Romance with strong erotic tones. I've been a part of this author's ARC Team from the start and I've loved the characters she's created and the stories that have evolved over time. This story has a bit of a mafia edge to it which I enjoyed. - review to come

Crash Into Me by L.A. Fiore is an intriguing tale about an NYC homicide detective and an absolutely gorgeous business man who seems to blur the lines. It's intense and romantic and I really loved what this author did with it. There was a great blend of a murder investigation that tapped into a decades old mystery and the chemistry that was building between the characters. Their connection was beautiful. - review to come

I'm currently reading two books that couldn't be more different...

It Was Always You by Ari Reavis is an enemies-to-lovers romance. I've literally just started it, but knowing this author, I'll be loving the heck out of this story. She has a real talent for creating remarkably sincere characters and realistic plots. I'm definitely in for a treat!

Promised Neverland 1 by Kaiu Shirai is a horror manga that has truly captivated my attention. It tells the tale of a group of orphans, living an idyllic life, when they realize that all is not as perfect as it seems. I'm loving it!

I'm not really sure what I'll be reading next. I've been weighing some options so maybe someone can help me choose because I need to get through some of the books on my shelves.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer - Long before she was the terror of Wonderland—the infamous Queen of Hearts—she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid - Red Queen meets The Hunger Games in this epic novel about what happens when a senator’s daughter is summoned to the galactic court as a hostage, but she’s really the galaxy’s most dangerous weapon in disguise.

A Diabolic is ruthless. A Diabolic is powerful. A Diabolic has a single task: Kill in order to protect the person you’ve been created for.

The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu - In her first work of historical fiction, #1 New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu spins a lush, lyrically-told story of music, magic, and the unbreakable bond between a brother and sister.

Bone Crier's Moon by Kathryn Purdie - Bone Criers have a sacred duty. They alone can keep the dead from preying on the living. But their power to ferry the spirits of the dead into goddess Elara’s Night Heavens or Tyrus’s Underworld comes from sacrifice. The gods demand a promise of dedication. And that promise comes at the cost of the Bone Criers’ one true love.

  3. It Was Always You sounds soooo good. Love the title and the cover and that adversaries-to-lover thing just always gets me. (A novel could be a cheaper way to work this through than a therapist.)

  5. Natalie, you have a great, eclectic mix of books going on there! Not a genre I would usually consider, but I really like the sound of the Manga horror, Promised Neverland 1. I also haven't read any of the books/authors you lined up as possibilities to read next, however I loved another series called the Queen of Hearts, so I am leaning towards Heartless, simply because that is what I would go for! 😅 Happy reading!

Here's my WWW post for this week: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2020/07/15/www-wednesday-15th-july-2020/ 🙂

  11. I've been seeing The Promised Neverland EVERYWHERE lately, and I'm so glad to hear you're loving it. I really need to pick it up, because ugh, it sounds so good and everyone seems to love it, even people who don't read a ton of horror. All of your possible upcoming reads are on my TBR, too, and I'll be curious to see what you end up picking up next. Can't wait to hear what you think, whichever it is!

    1. Thanks Sammie! The manga is insane and I recommend it to anyone who likes horror, dystopian tropes, or people who adore strong female leads. It's an entertaining, challenging, and even frustrating kind of read. I hope you find the time to read it :)

    1. I was actually leaning towards The Diabolic more than the others at first. I picked it and The Empress up for a steal from Book Outlet and I've been dying to read them ever since. If it's not my first choice, I will definitely be reading it shortly :)
