Synopsis
Aiden Sinclair was a commercial fisherman before he suddenly came into his billionaire inheritance—not that he’s complaining. Being a Sinclair does have its perks. But things were simpler before the money. He may have been dirt poor, but he loved his job and fully intended to always come back from the sea to his girlfriend, Skye Weston, so they could move toward something more permanent. Or at least that had been the plan . . . until he returned from a two-month fishing trip to discover that she had moved away and was marrying somebody else. It tore his world apart.

Now Skye’s back in town after nearly a decade. She’s a single mother and just as beautiful as ever. However, for some odd reason, she appears to hate him, when it should be Aiden who wants nothing to do with the woman who dumped him. Unfortunately, more than nine years of separation has done nothing to put a damper on their white-hot chemistry when they’re together. But even if those feelings are real, Skye has been keeping secrets. The truth of the past is about to come to light, and there is so much more at stake than just Aiden’s heart.

MY REVIEW

My Review

★★★☆☆

I'm a true sucker for a second chance romance. I love a good grovel and I love watching characters reconnect after some time. Seeing that their chemistry was only set to simmer over the years and sparked back to life once they're near each other again is the stuff of fairy tales. Love it!

Aiden Sinclair and Skye Weston were young lovers. Both money poor, their love for each other and family made them rich. Aiden was a fisherman and was leaving for two months on a job. No problem, because they were so in love, he knew that Skye would be there when he got back. But she wasn't. When he gets home, not only is Skye NOT there waiting for him, she's set to marry another man. And heartbreak becomes Aiden's best friend.

I love J.S. Scott's writing. I've been promoting and sharing her working for years now and I don't see that ever stopping. However, this book wasn't a huge winner for me. There's only one reason why I couldn't fall in love with it and it was all Skye's fault. While I felt bad for what she suffered during her marriage, she shouldn't have been in that marriage to begin with. And I'm not trying to blame the victim, so don't get me wrong, but she had stupid reasons for doing what she did and all the pain could have been avoided if she had stopped for one moment and thought with logic. Then when she comes back, she not only acted like she was wronged, she expected Aiden to jump through hoops to gain back her affection. WTH?! She left him. She broke HIS heart. The nerve!

So read this book to learn more about Aiden. He was truly swoon-worthy and everything someone would look for in a hero seeking redemption. He apologized even when he wasn't wrong and was willing to move mountains, swim seas, and leap tall buildings in order to get back with the one woman he loved above all else. Aiden's worth it!
