Review: Motion by Penny Reid

Motion by Penny Reid
One week.
Home alone.
Girl genius.
Unrepentant slacker.
Big lie.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Mona is a smart girl and figured everything out a long time ago. She had to. She didn’t have a choice. When your parents are uber-celebrities and you graduate from high school at fifteen, finish college at eighteen, and start your PhD program at nineteen, you don’t have time for distractions outside of your foci. Even fun is scheduled. Which is why Abram, her brother’s best friend, is such an irritant.

Abram is a talented guy, a supremely gifted musician, and has absolutely nothing figured out, nor does he seem to care. He does what he feels, when he feels, and—in Mona’s opinion—he makes her feel entirely too much.

Laws of Physics is the second trilogy in the Hypothesis series; Laws of Physics parts 1 (MOTION) & 2 (SPACE) end with a cliffhanger.

My Review

★★★★☆

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Okay, so Mona is super focused. She's obsessed with all things physics and relativity and scientificky gobbledygook. Most of it is way over my head, but that's not the point. The point is that this girl is a genius and never really had the chance to be 'normal'. When her twin sister, Lisa, calls her because she got herself in a bit of a pickle, she's a bit resistant. Pretend to be her? They haven't done that since they were kids. Shoot, they barely know each other anymore. Mona is super studious and Lisa is a notorious party girl. How could she successfully pull this off? Well, in honor of their lost relationship, Mona's gonna give it the old college try.

Enter Abram, who isn't focused. He's Mona's brother's best friend, a gifted musician who seems to take life as it comes. He couldn't be more different than Mona. But opposites attract, right? And there's no denying that despite some initial animosity on Abram's part, these two are being pulled together like magnets. What will happen when Lisa wants her life back? What will Abram do when he learns the truth?

You can never go wrong when picking up a book by Penny Reid. Whether it's laughs your looking for or some sweet new adult romance, she's got the story for you. Motion is the start of something sweet, with characters you can't help but become invested in. There's lies and secrets and misunderstandings and the beautiful sirrings of attraction. What's not to like? I need the next book, Space, so I can find out WHA???
