The Wedding From Hell by JR Ward
The Wedding from Hell, Part 3: Exclusive Excerpt of Consumed is the final part of J.R. Ward’s The Wedding From Hell ebook serialization.

Anne Ashburn is a woman consumed...

By her bitter family legacy, by her scorched career as a firefighter, by her obsession with department bad-boy Danny McGuire, and by a new case that pits her against a fiery killer.

Strong-willed Anne was fearless and loved the thrill of fighting fires, pushing herself to be the best. But when one risky decision at a warehouse blaze changes her life forever, Anne must reinvent not only her job, but her whole self.

Shattered and demoralized, Anne finds her new career as an arson investigator a pale substitute for the adrenaline-fueled life she left behind. She doesn't believe she will ever feel that same all-consuming passion for her job again—until she encounters a string of suspicious fires setting her beloved city ablaze.

Danny McGuire is a premiere fireman, best in the commonwealth, but in the midst of a personal meltdown. Danny is taking risks like never before and seems to have a death wish until he teams up with Anne to find the fire starter. But Danny may be more than a distraction, and as Anne narrows in on her target, the arsonist begins to target her.

MY REVIEW

★★★★☆

Honestly, if this is what I have to look forward to when it comes to Consumed, I'm so glad I signed up for the ride.

It's another fire. Same as any other. Anne and Danny are on the job. But Anne believes she's a one-woman show and breaks protocol. Her rash decision led to her very destruction. Trapped under debris in a burning building, the only way to save her is to cut her out. But Danny hesitates. This is the woman he sees forever with. Will she ever forgive him for what he must do? Will he ever forgive himself?

I loved the intensity that I was teased with in this excerpt. It's not just the connection between the characters but also their connection to their lives, to their jobs, to the fire. I know that the actual book involves a bit of a mystery and I think I already figured out the culprit. I'm excited to see how it all unfolds!
