Dirty by Callie Hart
Face of an angel.
Body of a god.
And a mouth so dirty he could make the devil blush…

Fix Marcosa’s time can be bought with money, but he isn’t selling sex. Murderers, rapists, criminals: if you’re on the wrong side of Fix’s moral code, you’re in trouble. The kind of trouble that winds up getting you killed. As a hitman for hire, Fix is no stranger to violence. He’s merciless. Relentless. A true savage, down to the roots of his very soul. You can beg. You can plead. You can pray, but it won’t do you any good. Once the tall, dark stranger arrives at your doorstep, it’s already too late to repent.

Sera Lafferty’s no stranger to heartbreak. With an abusive father and a dependant sister, her life has been one of sacrifice and compromise. As soon as she sets eyes on Felix ‘Fix’ Marcosa, she recognizes the darkness in him and makes a vow: she will not get involved. But trapped inside a motel room with the sexiest man to ever walk the earth? Throw in some tequila and the storm to end all storms, and Sera finds herself worshipping at the altar of Marcosa.

She knows she made a mistake.

She knows she needs to run.

But when she witnesses the assassin at work first hand, she knows it’s far too late. Thrown into the back of his sleek black ride, Sera finds herself trapped, and in more way than one. Fix is deadly. He’s demanding, he’s dirty, and he’s determined to claim her for his own.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s been a while since I’ve read anything from Callie Hart and I realized once I started this book how much I’ve missed her writing. I fell so deeply in love with her Blood & Roses series (yummy Zeth) and knew from there I was a goner. I became a devout fan and I wouldn’t change a thing. Getting my hands on Dirty only confirmed why I think this woman is incredibly talented. I honestly didn’t think she’d create anyone who could test the caliber of Zeth’s character, but Fix is definitely giving it his best shot.

He was raw, untapped power, a storm trapped inside a bottle, and I got the feeling he raged day and night, no matter what. - Sera

Fix is a hired hit man. He goes after the murderers, rapists, pedophiles and abusers who escape the justice of the system. I instantly viewed him as a vigilante and while I don’t condone his actions, it was easy to understand them. He was raw, unfiltered darkness and mayhem, and within the first glance, I knew there was so much more to this man than meets the eye.

Sera is no stranger to pain. After escaping an abusive and tortured childhood, she’s made a life for herself and considers it a success. She’s brave and strong and determined to live her life on her terms. She never predicted coming across a man like Fix, a man who was almost too beautiful to look at, a man that drew her in like a moth to a flame. She knew getting close to him could burn her, but she couldn’t resist. And when she finds out a bit of what he’s truly made of, it’s too late to turn back. He’s everything she shouldn’t want and all the things she needed. He’s a killer and yet she’s never felt safer. With one look he strips her bare and his touch sets her soul on fire.

“I’ve tasted your ecstasy. I’ve tasted your anger. I wanted to know what your fear tasted like.” - Fix

I loved the way the author played these characters against each other. They have undeniable chemistry, but Sera tries to resist because she believes it’s the right thing to do. Her mind tells her one thing, but her heart and her body have turned into traitors, always leading her to Fix. And it’s obvious that with Sera, Fix is discovering another part of himself. A part he thought was dead and buried. His heart is being thawed out by this spitfire of a woman and while he’s hating it, he’s loving it at the same time. And through their every interaction, you can see the growth these characters are going through. How their perceptions are changing, how their feelings are developing, and it has them questioning everything. I think the author created characters that perfectly complement each other. They bring out the best and worst of the other and I’m enjoying watching all of this unfold, hoping for a brilliant happy ending.

Happiness was a byproduct of embracing your own flaws, your insecurities and your desires. I wasn’t sure how to accomplish that, but it seemed, against all the odds, that Fix had. - Sera

After one heck of a cliffhanger, I’m beyond thrilled that book two, Nasty, is out. Can these two lost souls become found with each other? In each other? If you’re a fan of sexy, insanely hot, hilarious, dirty-talking anti-heroes, you’ll want to meet Fix. He doesn’t disappoint!!
