ARC Review: UP IN SMOKE by T.M. Frazier

March 01, 2018

Up in Smoke by TM Frazier
I’m a man without a conscience.
I deal in murder and mayhem.
I’m the best at what I do.
Frankie Helburn is supposed to be an easy job.
A means to flush her father out of hiding.
Simple.
Except there isn’t anything simple about Frankie or the secrets she’s keeping.
She’s stubborn as hell and the sexiest god damn thing I have ever seen, sending dark, dirty animalistic desire coursing through my veins.
She’s cocaine with legs. A f*cking addiction that makes me question things I’ve never questioned before. Want things I’ve never wanted before.
I might have her, but she isn’t mine to keep.
If her father doesn’t show his face, she will be mine.
To KILL.

REVIEW

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All I’m saying is that this better not be the last book of this series. It. Better. Not. Be. Because I personally cannot get enough of these characters. I got to see my boys in this one and even Rage had an ‘also-starring’ role, which really tickled my gonads. Nine/Kevin's story next please!!

“Respect needs to be earned. Preppy’s got mine.”- Smoke

You had to know I was going to be in absolute heaven seeing my boo. Bowtie til I die, muhfuqqas!! But hey, this was Smoke and Frankie’s story and I’ve wanted to know more about this fearsome, brooding, deadly man since the moment he crossed the page. Who was he? How did he become the man he was? What did his future hold? Up in Smoke answered my questions and then some.

“I think of how beautiful this man is. How angry and horrible and violent and beautiful.” - Frankie

Smoke fit right in with my boys and this book read like I was reconnecting with a friend I hadn’t spoken to in a while. At one end I was an emotional wreck, tense from the uncertainty of Frankie’s fate, and anticipating Smoke’s surrender, and at the other, I was comfortable. I think my level of comfort came with the familiarity of this author’s writing and how unrealistically realistic her characters are. She creates some beasts that you can’t help but fall in love with and Smoke was absolutely no exception! And Frankie was my homegirl. This girl went through some mess to get where she was and I admired her survival.

“I’m desperate to give my body to the man who may very well be the one who takes my life.”

Okay, so Smoke kidnaps Frankie to use her as collateral. Her father stole some money from some pretty bad men and Smoke is chosen to collect. But that’s not the whole story. Oh no. Smoke’s out for revenge. Bloodthirsty, throat-rending, heart-stopping revenge. His bloodlust had no limits and he was willing to do anything to quench his thirst. What he didn’t count on was Frankie and the effect this young slip of a girl would have on him.

“The very thing I thought I was incapable of has been given to me by this girl. A gift I won’t ever be able to repay. I thank her for it.”

“The uncontrollable man is showing me control. I’m lost. To him. To this. To us.”

I’m telling you. This book was beyond fantastic. This story was raw, unfiltered hate and lust and love and I ate that ish up like chocolate. I am in love with Smoke. He’s now been officially added to my harem. Yes, I have an imaginary reverse harem and he now has member privileges. His heart… the heart he wasn’t supposed to have anymore… Gosh, I loved the beat of it.

“You wanted me to choose you, Hellion. Well, this is me… choosing you.”
