Transcend by Jewel E. Ann
“In another life, she was my forever.”

An unexpected tragedy leaves Professor Nathaniel Hunt a widower alone with a newborn baby.

He hires a nanny. She’s young, but well-qualified, with a simple life, a crazy name obsession, and a boyfriend she met at the grocery store.

Over time, he discovers she knows things about him—things that happened before she was born—like a hidden scar on his head, his favorite pizza, and how he cheated on a high school Spanish test.

She speaks familiar words and shares haunting memories that take him back to over two decades earlier when he lost his best friend in a tragic accident.

“I’m afraid of what’s going to happen when you realize I’m not her.”

Transcend is a sexy, mind-bending journey that uncovers possibilities, challenges beliefs, and begets the age-old question: is there life after death?

REVIEW

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I tried to be Switzerland for this story. I tried really hard not to choose sides, not to assume the worst, not to hate the actions of Swayze-pie, but to trust that the author wasn’t going to break my heart beyond repair. I’m not sure I succeeded. Because Griffin… lawd have mercy… I need this man in my life. I need this man in Swayze’s life.

Griffin was such a suprising young man. As Swayze said, he was more than just his 23 years. He was kind, he was caring, he was not only gorgeous but beautiful too, and he was so amazing. He was my absolute favorite character in this book. Everything else about this story threw me for a loop. While it was spiritual and profound, it caused me to fall into a state of confusion and conflict. While I felt tons of compassion for Nate, I didn’t completely like where the story was taking me.

Griffin made my heart fly open. He was such a sweetie. He was everything. And maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, but aside from needing his POV, I need him to have a happy ending… with Crazy… I mean Swayze. I’m invested in this couple. For ones so young, they deserve the happiness they have found with each other and I’m hoping it continues. However, that cliffhanger was a doozy and I have no clue how things are going to play out. I just hope this author has some mercy on my soul and allows my heart some peace.

I fell absolutely in love with this story. It was so different from anything else I’ve read and quite literally blew my mind. I was at once so happy for these characters and also incredibly upset. I have no idea where this author is leading me and I find that I’m not a fan of feeling this out of control. I NEED Epoch right now!!
