I'll work for my dad's best friend but only if he teaches me everything.
He showed up with a $10,000 check to my party.
"For you, gorgeous," he says, kissing me on the cheek.
I'll never forget how his soft lips felt.
I can still smell that s*xy cologne.
He's my dad's hot best friend.
And when he hires me as his assistant, I decide he has to be my first.
*
I know the rules: Never fall for your employees.
And especially never think about f*cking Violet.
She's my best friend's daughter.
He trusted me to protect her from other men.
And I am jacking off in the shower thinking of her.
I'm the one staring at her taut curves.
I'm enjoying her company more than I should.
Well, I can sense trouble coming.
But first, I want to make her come.

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

My prince was a Beast with blood on his hands and ice in his veins. My family offered to save me. The only price: leaving the tattered pieces of my heart behind.

Our love was irrational. Cruel. Unforgiving. Nothing like the storybooks said it should be—but it was perfect.

The longer we were apart, the more I lost myself. He was vicious and domineering, but I craved the submission. Together we were destructive, but I was addicted to the devastation. Still, I thought titles mattered. To my family I was princess, and to the Beast I was slave. I was too naïve to understand that even though he’d been my captor, he’d broken the shackles on my soul.

Once upon a time, I thought love meant happily ever after.

Now I know better.

Beauty is the final book in the Hate Story duet. About what it means to fall in love with the person who has absolutely destroyed you, it contains disturbing and graphic situations that may be a trigger for some.

Heat - 4 out of 5

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

I thought selling myself to a mafia boss was noble. So what if they called him the Beast? I grew up in rags, and he would lift me to riches. All I had to do was give him my soul.

He was punishing. Insatiable. Captivating. Nothing like I expected him to be. Each day my reality blurred, leaving me wondering if I was slave or princess.

The longer I stayed, the more I lost myself to him. Even after every cruelty the Beast visited upon me, I longed for his touch. Even after every savage word he spoke, I begged for his lips. I thought the worst thing he could take was my body. I was too naïve to guard my heart.

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

Now I know better than to speak of happily ever afters.

Beast is the first book in the Hate Story duet. About what it means to fall in love with the person who has absolutely destroyed you, it contains disturbing and graphic situations that may be a trigger for some.

My boss is teaching me to be bolder in the boardroom…and the bedroom.

I’m not bold enough to take over my father’s company, but I’ve sworn to do whatever it takes to learn. Even if it means working for Jameson Stone, the billionaire CEO of Craze Advertising, who’s as hard and unmovable as his name implies. He tells me to demand what I want instead of backing down, something I’ve always struggled with—in the boardroom and the bedroom. There are things I want to try, things I’ve only read in my romance novels, but have been too afraid to ask for.

When my boldness lessons turn into foreplay lessons, it’s nearly impossible not to fall, and if I’m not careful, I’ll end up losing everything I’ve worked for to a man who’ll always choose business over me.

She’s much too innocent for me, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting the sweet, young librarian. I’m dominating and possessive, and my control streak runs a mile wide.

The way she looks at me—like I’m one of the heroes in the books she loves, like I’m broken, and she wants to be the one to piece me back together—it only complicates things further. I’m nobody’s hero.

But there’s no denying my tragic past reads like one of her favorite literary classics. It’s raw. Visceral. Captivating. And together, we’re a perfect mess.

How can I resist when the sexual sparks zapping between us set me on fire? The need to control, and claim her force my walls to come tumbling down, but when she learns about my dirty little secret, will my world come crashing down with it?

Heath was a self-made billionaire who had been burned by his ex-wife/gold digger and was determined not to fall for those types of tricks again. Very close to his parents, he figured the love they shared wasn’t in the cards for him. Kat had never really had a family and was trying to make ends meet while helping out the only family she’s ever known. When Heath wanted to make his dying father’s wish come true (a grandchild), he couldn’t think of anyone he’d rather make a baby with then his sexy and increasingly irresistible personal assistant, Kat. And as Kat had always dreamed of being a successful romance author, Heath’s offer was one she found she couldn’t refuse.

I’ve never read anything by Nikki Chase before and was pleasantly surprised by how well-written this story was. The characters, although not incredibly realistic, were very easy to like. And those sex scenes were scorching! I got this book through Kindle Unlimited and it included tons of bonus content. There were previews for a couple of the author’s other books, which I’ll be reading, and she even gave us another story, Single Dad’s Fake Bride, which was also well-written and enjoyable. So that’s two books for the cost of one by a new author that served as a fine introduction to her work.
