Can an alien Outcast and a lonely human find happiness together?

Hypersensitive to the emotions of others, Beth is resigned to spending her life alone - until she is attacked by savage aliens. Rescued by a massive scarred warrior, she feels a connection for the first time. With a chance to finally escape her loneliness, she doesn’t hesitate when he informs her she must accompany him.

Dragar never expected to find the perfect female while tracking one of the saboteurs targeting his people. A former Outcast, he is scarred inside and out, and knows that he is unworthy of a mate. His instincts insist he protect the innocent female from all danger - even his own rampant attraction - but he can't resist her innocent allure.

Now Beth and Dragar are being pursued across the galaxy. The time on the run is only forcing them closer together. Can Dragar put aside his troubled past and give Beth the love she deserves? Or will they both end up alone again?

My Two Cents

4 "What Lies Beneath" stars

Two people, one human and one alien, who thought they would forever be alone. And then they weren't. One is scarred, inside and out and it takes the loving touch, the loving heart of the one he holds dear to finally start to heal him.

A former Outcast, Dragar never felt worthy. He believed he was destined for a life alone, helping to forge a new way for his people, but not really one of them. Beth was an empath, and because she felt too much, she removed herself from much of society. She also believed she would always be alone. And then Dragar came bursting out of the woods, killed her attackers, and took her on a journey among the stars.

Some favorite scenes: everything on Kievan's space station (does he get his own book?); Dragar standing up for Beth and what they share; all that Beth was willing to do to tie herself to Dragar; Beth and Rianen (does this warrior get her own book?); and Jakkar and Anna standing by their sides.

I loved the instant connection between these characters. I enjoyed seeing how, although they were supposed to be so different, they were so much alike. And their feelings for one another, their intimate moments, their bond... yeah, that's what I like to read.

There's a reason I once again took a chance on this author. Sweet romance with dominant heroes, soft yet fierce heroines, and happily ever afters. Gets me every time!

About the Author

Honey Phillips writes steamy science fiction stories about hot alien warriors and the human women they can’t resist. From abductions to invasions, the ride might be rough, but the end always satisfies!

Honey wrote and illustrated her first book at the tender age of 5. Her writing has improved since then. her drawing skills, unfortunately, have not. She loves writing, reading, traveling, cooking, and drinking champagne - not necessarily in that order.

Lady Iolanthe of Rockmourn Keep expects to be a spinster all her days. She is very tall. She is very poor. And she is thirty. What lord could possibly want her?

But then her father returns with news that he has found a bridegroom for her - one that is impressively tall. One that is strong, and bold, and wealthy. And best of all? He wants Iolanthe. It seems too good to be true.

And when Iolanthe gets her first look at her husband-to-be, she realizes why.

No one mentioned the 'orc' part of things...

My Two Cents

4 "This male loves pleasuring his female" stars

I didn't know how this story was going to turn out, but I know what RD does, and that's deliver, so I wasn't even worried. So what if the hero was a half-orc? So what if I constantly wondered how his tusks didn't get in the way, especially when they came close to sensitive bits? This story gave me exactly what I was looking for — sweet, sexy, swoony fun!

I loved the way the author created this story. The relationship between the characters was so beautiful to me. Iolanthe had lived her life knowing she was unwanted. There was no one to tell her different. And Agakor believed that no human lady could ever come to love him. He was half-orc after all. But what neither of them could have expected... that there was someone who would be the absolute perfect someone for them. That's what they were for each other.

Agakor gave Iolanthe all of the love she had been missing and she did the same to him in return.

Loved it!

And now I'll leave you with some sexy Orcs...

The Half-Orc's Maiden Bride by Ruby Dixon

Quick Peek

When I imagined myself taking a human lady as a bride, I didn't think further than that. I wanted a son to cement my claim upon this land, and a bride to ensure that I would look legitimate in the eyes of the other lords. I want them to see me as just another lord, not a squatter or an interloper who bought his way to a lord's title and keep with coin. A bride was just another piece of the puzzle, another way to get respect. I imagined her as something to endure, someone that would be horrified at who she had to marry, but who would put up with me because of the gold I paid her father.

I never imagined someone like Iolanthe. Someone who would shyly meet me in all my desires, someone who is as fascinated at touching me as I am with her. Someone who looks at my run-down keep as her home and even now works to clean it from top to bottom and make it presentable. I didn't imagine that my wife would like me, much less be eager for my touch. From the moment she petted my cock like it was a puppy, she's held my heart in her hand.

It’s not every day that you see a dead body at the beach. Or the woman of your dreams sitting next to that dead body.

Price Crow first saw Sabrina Proctor in the middle of a hurricane.

She’d been sitting next to her dead best friend, who’d passed away on the beach, with no way to get her back home, thanks to the world’s worst luck, and one hell of a storm.

So Price does what any decent person would do: he carries Sabrina’s dead best friend to their beach house and doesn’t leave her side until he’s forced to.

He had every intention of bridging that gap, of checking up on her and making sure she was okay, but life is funny and has a way of making a mockery of the best-laid plans.

Despite one hell of a connection, under the worst of circumstances, they go their separate ways. At least, he tries to. But he can’t stop thinking about her, and it becomes apparent, very fast, that he has a decision to make.

Choose Sabrina, or live out the rest of his life making everyone else around him happy except for himself.

My Two Cents

3 "It's probably me" stars

It was practically love at first sight when Price caught his first glimpse of Sabrina. He knew nothing about her, but she intrigued him. Whether it was a coincidence or some strange sort of luck, when he goes on a family vacation, Sabrina happens to rent the house next door. However, while he's there for fun in the sun, she's there to say a final goodbye to her best friend. And when she's at her lowest, it's Price who helps her pick up the pieces.

I had a lot of problems with this story and that's really saying something because everyone and their mama knows how much I adore this author. While reading it, I kept thinking... this is messy.

For what I think is the first time, I didn't like the heroine. I didn't care about what she was going through, I didn't care about her feelings, and I didn't care if she got her happy ending. The only reason she was even a factor for me is because of Price. I loved this man and was willing to put up with the woman he chose so he could be happy. But it wasn't easy.

My biggest issue with this woman was that she was supposed to be socially awkward and shy, but I didn't really get that. I got a person who made excuses for her problems and did nothing to change them. She kept looking to others for basic things. She seemed to know nothing about life and yet she had a job with the school board. Why didn't she ever seek out some therapy?

She was very judgy, which irked the ish out of me.

"You smoke?"
I looked up from my contemplation of the waves, and what I thought might be a dolphin, to the porch next door.
Bringing the cigarette to my lips, I shrugged. "When I want to."
Which, lately, was a lot.
"Why?"
I thought about her question for a second, then shrugged a shoulder before saying, "Because I want to."
She sighed. "Don't you know that causes cancer?"

No. Really? Well, I've been living under a rock and didn't hear the news. Price is better than me. Why do I smoke? Hmmm... well I don't know you and guess what? Don't ask me stupid questions. Don't question me. Mind your damn business.

She was also nosey, presumptious, and kinda rude. I'm still wondering what she was doing with her life that she put up with her ex for so long. Where was her common sense?

And so, I had to average everything out... such as missing details, my intense dislike of the heroine, dangling plot points, etc., and give this book its due.

Again, I absolutely love this author and will read whatever she pushes out. This just happens to be my least favorite book yet.

My Two Cents

4 "Battle of the Sexes" stars

I've never tried this author before, but this book was making the rounds and I had my reasons for trying it.

* it's scifi romance, one of my not-so-secret pleasures
* it mentions breeding kink — YUM!!
* sex, filthy sex, all the sex
* an actual plot

Did it deliver?

Why yes... Yes, it did!

I will warn you though... this book was long!!

Could it have been shorter? Probably. But then I'd probably complain about it lacking something 😝😝

I enjoyed it, which is all that matters. Will I read from this author again? You better believe it!

Invaded by Lizzy Bequin

Quick Peek

Great Mars, she was a strong little creature. She had changed his idea about what it even meant to be strong. For all his life, Ultor had equated strength with domination. But now he was beginning to understand how much strength submission required. His little queen was baring herself to him, making herself totally vulnerable. She was putting her body in his hands, ceding control to him absolutely. That required immense trust. And trust required strength.

Can the most damaged of sins embrace redemption?

By night, fallen angel Triel Ekron is a successful nightclub and restaurant owner in Las Vegas. By day, he enjoys assassinating humans in the most creative of ways.

When his latest mark turns out to be highly gifted in the kitchen, Triel gives her a choice: become his new imprisoned chef, or watch her family be murdered in front of her before she’s killed too. After all, his last chef just met an untimely death—at his hand—and Triel is looking for some new flavors to indulge in.

Cassie Fleming has dreamed her whole life of owning her own restaurant, following in her beloved mother’s footsteps. But when her mother’s murderer finds her in Witness Protection, she’s left with an ultimatum—and saving what’s left of her family is the only option. She’ll do anything for them, including signing away her freedom.

Triel’s brutal demonic side will wage war against Cassie’s kind and forgiving nature, but it’ll take a lot more than the cruelness of a fallen angel to kill her spirit. And no matter how much Triel tries to avoid it, Cassie gets under his skin in a way that makes him question everything he’s believed for so long. Will he put aside his prejudices and admit he’s been wrong about humans all along, or will he destroy the precious gift his father has offered him?

WARNING
There are no heroes in this dark PNR series, only villains. It consists of explicit content, dubious, and graphic situations that some readers might find offensive.

My Two Cents

4 "I can't look away" stars

Okay. Okay.
Still trying to catch my breath here.
I thought I was ready.
I was NOT ready!!
Can you ever really be ready for the disgusting and depraved and delicious imaginings of Marissa Honeycutt?

Triel followed Lucifer and was cast from Heaven. As second-in-command, he had built his own hell on Earth in Las Vegas. Every human was something to be toyed with. They were there for his amusement, his pleasure, his punishment. And oh, were his 'punishments' a tale of their own.

Cassie was a sweet girl who only wanted to be a chef and testify against her mother's murderer. Too bad her quest for justice put her in Triel's crosshairs. This kind and forgiving girl ends up at his mercy and quickly finds out he has none.

He brutalizes her. He hurts her. He disrespects her. He punishes her. He unleashes the beast and shows her how cruel he can be. Those scenes, as terrible as they were... that was some fine writing right there. Seriously, Triel's imaginative torture scenes were as beautiful as they were depraved. (Now I'm also thinking of Cole. Dang.)

My thoughts during certain scenes:
* omg
* can humans take that much?
* oh gosh, thankfully it's over
* wait, it's not over???
* after all that, Triel still found it within himself to make things so much worse?
* crashing and clanking noises in my head. Does not compute.
* I can't unsee any of this!

And honestly, I couldn't see how this fallen angel could ever be redeemed. The things he did were beyond compare and how do you even walk back from that? I still don't think he made up for anything, but in order for there to be a somewhat happy ending, I had to let my disbelief go. I had to go with the flow. And Cassie did spark something within Triel. She reminded him of who he used to be. Of who he could be once again. And I guess that has to count for something.

For all dark lovers out there, this is definitely right up your alley. There are no shades of grey. It's all black and inky, full of deadly shadows. It's a horrific paradise!

The titan of darkness clashes with the witch queen of Corinth in this final and epic instalment of The Court of the Underworld.

Erebus let his monstrous side loose in order to save Medea from Darius, but pushing it back down is proving more challenging than he expected. It fact, it's almost bloody impossible when the beautiful and terrifying witch is trying to fight him every chance she gets. But damn, is it fun.

After fifteen years of being experimented on, Medea, the most hated woman in all of Greek history, is free and planning her revenge on Darius and his followers. She needs to keep her rage and madness under control, and being around a certain titan makes all of worst impulses rise to the surface.

As Darius's final plan to start a war between man and gods is finally revealed, Erebus and Medea are going to have to work together and embrace each other's dark sides in order to save Styx...and maybe even save each other in the process.

EREBUS is a new story based on characters from Greek Myth. It contains adult content, including violence, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.

My Two Cents

4,5 "Embrace the Darkness" stars

Everything was leading to this... and I enjoyed the heck out of it!

It's all come to a head. Our heroes have practically decimated what's left of Pithos, but Darius still believes he has moves to make. I thought it was hilarious that this dude, this human thought he could take on the gods and goddesses, but he made things entertaining.

So I found plenty to like about this story, such as:
😈 whenever Erebus took his true form and completely annihilated everything. How did I fall in love with shadows?
😈 the way the author characterized Medea, humanizing her in a way. She had such lovely vulnerable moments and yet she was so strong and fierce. She really was the best match for Erebus
😈 how all of the characters came together as a family. They all moved so beautifully together
😈 the laughs. I won't forget all of the funny moments amidst the mayhem
😈 how incredible scars can seem. Who knew?
😈 and so much more. I'm obviously not going to spoil things

My question about Ariadne's fate as a human was answered. My heart has been owned by these people. And here at the end of the series, I'm not sure what to do with myself. Hmmmm... probably start on this author's other one!

Favorite Quotes

"You are definitely crazy, but you don't need to apologize for it. You're in the right company," Erebus replied, reaching over to gently move her hands away from her mouth. "You don't need to hide it. Be as crazy as like, you fucking earned it."
Medea stared at the roof of the truck and calmed her laughter. "I really did. How do I keep surviving all of this?" she asked, sounding a little hopeless.
"Because you can't die until you get your revenge on those that wronged you."
"And what happens when there's no one left to kill, Erebus? What will I be then?"
"Terrifyingly magnificent at whatever the fuck you decide you want to be, Medea," he replied without hesitation.

»»————- ♔ ————-««

Medea reached for the hem of her black shirt and pulled it off over her head. Erebus lost the ability to breathe as she unclipped her bra. Maintaining eye contact, she pulled off her jeans. No underwear again, he noticed.
Ichor was roaring through his ears, drowning out the other sounds. Erebus looked her over, hands gripping the arms of his chair. She was literally covered in scars. Even her lovely brown nipples had lines through them where Darius or Kayne had dissected them.
Very slowly, Medea turned so he could see the ruined state of her back and heart-shaped ass.
"Say something," she whispered. Medea thought he was silent because he was disgusted. It was because he was speechless with how much he wanted her. Every broken and mangled part.

»»————- ♔ ————-««

"The darkness has always made me feel safe, so I used to talk to the shadows like they were my friends," she continued. "I had forgotten about that until the night you saved me. I hate admitting that out loud, but you did. You saw what they were doing to me and you came for me. No matter how mad I get at you, I'm always going to love you for that, you asshole."

The ferryman of the dead is on the hunt for the cursed sorceress of Aeaea...but he's going to find a lot more than he bargained for.

Charon has been recruited by Thanatos in the search for Circe, Hecate's niece, and one of the most powerful sorceresses in history. Finding a cursed island that doesn't exist on any map is hard enough. He also has to convince Circe to trust him, and trusting strangers isn't something the sorceress is known for.

Circe has a reputation for turning unwanted visitors into pigs, but when a titan lands on Aeaea claiming to be there to rescue her, she's willing to hear him out. Circe will do anything to be rid of Zeus's curse keeping her bound to the island, and holds off letting her lioness eat the strange titan...for the time being anyway.

It's been a long time since Circe has been in the human world, and Charon wants to make sure she feels welcome, but he's going to discover that there's more about Circe that's bewitching than the magic she wields.

CHARON is a new story based on characters from Greek Myth. It contains adult content, including violence, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.

My Two Cents

3.5 "Loving the Unlovable" stars

Okay, so while I enjoyed the heck out of Charon — who knew the ferryman of the underworld could be so sweet? — I'm still on the fence about Circe. I'm still waiting for the reason why she made Charon work so hard for everything. I get that she has a history of being betrayed and left broken hearted, but what did he do? Yeah, that's what I thought.

After being rescued from the island she was left cursed on by Zeus, Circe had a lot to adjust to. The world had changed and she had to figure out her place in it. There was also the problem of trying to end the remnants of Pithos, the infamous god hunters who were nothing but trouble. Oh, and the romance budding between Circe and Charon and the drama of everyone else.

Every time he thought they had seen the limit of the horror Pandora had created, they found another layer.

Yup, another entertaining read. There was magic and mayhem, death and devastation, and I'm excited to see how the author brings it all to an end. Will these characters that I've come to adore still be alive? Will Darius finally die already? And what about Ariadne? She's the only human of the bunch. Will she be gifted immortality somehow?

And anyone else annoyed that Hermes, a god, is being told by his lover that he cannot kill and he listens??? I hate this!

Erebus is next and you know I already have his book loaded up!

Erebus was the oldest of the titans, older than the world, and the land and creatures on it. He was the darkness, the nothingness, the eternity of night between the stars before they learned to shine. And he was angry.

Thanatos is free of his curse and is causing her hot flushes whenever he gets too close, and horror of horrors, her descendant is dating the most annoying Olympian of them all.

All Hecate knows for sure is that she needs to retrieve her stolen keys of the cross roads if her power is going to be complete again...then she can figure what to do with all of the repressed feelings she has for the Titan of Death.

The Court may have dealt with Pandora, but they are to discover her treachery created worse things than Pithos, and the war to bring them down is far from over.

THANATOS is a new story based on characters from Greek Myth. It contains adult content, including violence, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.

My Two Cents

4.25 "Loved you through the ages" stars

Thanatos, along with his brothers and Hades, were cursed by Zeus to remain in the underworld, destined to never know real life outside of their shades. Before Hades pulled them to Earth, gifting them physical bodies, they made the best of their circumstances. The highlights of Thanatos's existence... every visit from the goddess, Hecate.

I loved that these two loved each other even when it seemed they would never be physically intimate. Unable to touch each other, they still connected, which I found beautiful, and the author did a great job of making me feel it.

Hecate's breath caught as his ancient black eyes stared at her. She had seen them in despair and rage and tenderness, but she'd never seen them like this. It was a look of raw, bestial want. Centuries upon centuries of yearning that he had hidden from her. It was terrying, it was thrilling... it was a reflection.

Yes, yes and YES!!

So there was a bit of a battle with these characters when admitting to their feelings, but it was fleeting and the author made up for it when they finally did come together. They were pretty much together from the start, even if neither one of them were willing to own it right away. It was obvious to everyone and I loved that they were one without outright saying it or detailing it to death.

There was also more battle action in this one. I definitely enjoyed the fight scenes and wouldn't mind some more of that. Knives, scythes, torches, magic... loving it! The romance and love between these characters just keeps getting better. It's like the author really hit her stride the further she got in the series. And I'm here for all of it!

Charon, ferryman of the dead, is up next and I've already got his book loaded up! I'm really enjoying the continuing plot and rooting for these characters to bring down their enemies.
