IOU by Kristy Marie

Kristy Marie brings you a laugh out loud comedy about what happens when a hot mess of a girl takes down the resident bad boy.

-- About IOU --
IOU by Kristy Marie
It’s official.
I, Ainsley James, am crazy.
Desperate and crazy.
It’s the only explanation as to why I’m nauseous, standing outside Maverick Lexington’s door.
I mean, it’s possible the stories about his deck of playing cards—with the words IOU scrawled across the back—are just rumors of the ruthless quid pro quo deals he barters.
But the flutters in my stomach know better.
Maverick is as cold as they come.
But, I need one of those cards.
I NEED to owe Maverick Lexington a favor…
Whatever the terms, I’m willing to pay.
Because, at this point, I have nothing left to lose.

-- My Two Cents --
As soon as I cracked this baby open, I was laughing. Seriously. The first chapter set the stage for what would be a hilariously unique romance I could really sink my teeth into. I've never read a story quite like this one and I recommend it to everyone looking for a hilarious romance.

Mysterious, alpha hero ✔
Sassy, fearless heroine ✔
An entertaining set of side characters ✔
A must-read college love story ✔

After finding her boyfriend cheating on her with her roommate, Ainsley is out of friends, out of a home, and out of options. What's a college girl to do? Sleep in her car. What she didn't count on was a 'guardian angel' in the form of a firefighter, a man who was watching out for her. A man who could put up with her idiosyncrasies when other's wouldn't, but he could only do so much. When she's finally desperate, she goes to the one person who can really help her. A man known around campus to collect favors. Maverick was definitely holding all the cards and when it came to Ainsley, he had no problem letting her rack up more debts.

There were tons of things to like about this book, such as the brooding Maverick, who was upset (and yet, not so much) about how Ainsley completely smashed through his life like an elephant in a China shop. For her, his rules were more like guidelines and his secrets were only safe until she ultimately dug them up. Their banter, their every interaction, prompted a laugh from me and I'm sure many others will find them just as humorous as I did.

So why not 5 STARS? Here's the thing... when it came to Ainsley staying with Maverick, understanding it was temporary, she took too many liberties. It annoyed me. When you're asking for a favor (or thriving because of one), don't overstep. She referred to his place as her own place, but... she didn't even have a key. He had already compromised his life for her and she expected more and even more from him, like he owed her something. It was HIS place. His couch, his tv, his food, HIS!! Girl came off rude, inconsiderate and ungrateful. My other problem was how much time was spent on Ainsley being heartbroken. I get it, she was betrayed. I get it, her ex was someone she'd known for a long time. I get it that she lost herself in giving herself to him. I get that as strong as she was, she fell in the trap of believing her relationship was worth more than it was. I get it, that her heart hurt. But to spend more than half the book on this ish, when it's supposed to be a story about MAVERICK and her, bothered me.

-- About Kristy Marie --
A self-proclaimed reader enthusiast, Kristy started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.
After eight long years, she released her debut novel, Commander in Briefs. It was a long road, but she can honestly say, the road less traveled had the most beautiful sights.
The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports! Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be, baseball. She's such a fan, that she even married her small town's high school's centerfielder where they still live with their three badass kids.
Commander in Briefs is her first series but definitely not her last.
