ARC Review: NO TOMORROW by Carian Cole

No Tomorrow by Carian Cole
** I suggest reading blind if you want all the feels! **

The people we love are thieves.
They steal our hearts. They steal our breath.
They steal our sanity.
And we let them.
Over and over and over again.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

They say you never forget your first time.
Mine was with a homeless musician who effed my brains out under a bridge.

He was my first love. And fourteen years later, I still can’t get him out of my head.

He broke all my rules.
He also broke my heart.

I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar.
But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.

Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.

You can’t go back, but I want to. Back to the bridge. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.

I thought I knew everything about him.
But I could not have been more wrong.

He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.
And hoping.
Again.

MY REVIEW

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If memories had a flavor, ours would be salt and blood.

The story of Piper and Blue was gritty and raw! Their journey was filled with pain and torment but the bursts of joy and harmony made every bit of anguish easier to endure. I'm not sure if I would have ever put myself in Piper's position when it came to Blue and had to try very hard to understand why she was doing what she was. I loved that she was able to see beyond his circumstances and was drawn to the beautiful man he really was. It was almost too easy to empathize with these characters and their story was not only hot and intense, it was dramatic, emotional and life-affirming.

I wasn't sure how to encapsulate this book without giving anything away and thought short and simple would do the trick. I'm literally holding myself back from revealing too much because this story was indeed fantastic. It tackles homelessness, judgmental attitudes and how they effect others, addiction, music, friendship, love and destiny. I couldn't help but agree that Piper and Blue seemed to be meant for each other and the hardships they faced to get to their happy ending were worth it. If you love a story that details a certain and unfortunate reality, you'll love this one!
