Thank You For The Bday Gifts - 2018

January 21, 2019

One of the great things about having a birthday so close to Christmas? Getting a gift is guaranteed. I may not get it on my actual birthday, but I'll definitely get it by the end of the year. There are so many great deals for gifts and all I have to do is make a list of what I want. And I got EVERYTHING I asked for, including these amazing books!!

...

Have you read these books already? At least started the series? I've read so many reviews of them that I feel like I know the worlds and the characters so well. I cannot wait to dive in and truly get to know everyone for myself. I'll leave the links to these items below if you want more info about them.

The Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

* includes Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising
Soldier. Summoner. Saint. Follow Alina Starkov through Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, and Ruin and Rising as she discovers her dormant powers and is swept up in a world of luxury and illusion. As Alina struggles to fit into her new life, a threat to the kingdom of Ravka grows―one that will test old alliances and challenge the very limits of magic, one that will forge a leader from a frightened girl.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Now that The Wicked King is out, I'm adding it to my list too!
Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him--and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

There's no way no one has heard of this book. I wanted book 1 in order to have it staring me in the face so I could start the series.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them--until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her.
His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien – beautiful, deadly, and destined for greatness.

Maas into a worldwide phenomenon.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Box Set by Sarah J. Maas

* contains hardcover editions of the first three books: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, and A Court of Wings and Ruin.
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin--one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin--and his world--forever.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

I had to get this series. If there are more books to come, I want to be prepared. With the way this series blew up, there was absolutely NO WAY I wasn't going to have these in my collection.
Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series.
New in the #1 New York Times bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses series, A Court of Frost and Starlight is a glimpse into the lives of Feyre and Rhys as they begin to recover from the war that changed their world.
Feyre, Rhysand, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated -- scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.
