April 2021 Bookish Recap

May 30, 2021

April 2021 Book Recap

I did tell you that I'm terrible at doing this right? I created this blog with the intention of keeping track of my reading, setting goals, making friends, sharing book love, etc. But doing a recap... I never remember to do one! So here's my attempt at creating one for April. I know, we're about to be in June, but all too soon I'll be posting May's recap and I didn't want to do that without acknowledging the books I read in April.

The Best Book(s) of April

A Battle of Blood and Stone by Sawyer Bennett Hissy Fit by Lani Lynn Vale
Royally Screwed by Emma Chase Rebellious by Kristy Marie

A Battle of Blood and Stone by Sawyer Bennett was the fourth book of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil. If you're into Urban Fantasy, I highly recommend this series. Hissy Fit by Lani Lynn Vale is the first book of her Southern Gentleman series and one I'm glad I went back to read. Royally Screwed by Emma Chase has been sitting on my tbr for forever and I'm so happy to have finally dived in. I can't wait to read the next book of the series. Rebellious by Kristy Marie is another book of the second generation of the Commander in Brief people. So good!

The other books I read were:
Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann - 3 stars
Jailbait by Lani Lynn Vale - 4 stars
Vampire by Rebecca Zanetti - 4 stars
Blood to Dust by L.J. Shen - 3 stars
The Genome Project by Aaron Hodges - 4 stars
Quit Bein' Ugly by Lani Lynn Vale - 4 stars
Finding Gray by K.L. Kreig - no rating
Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins - 1 star

Paperback:

I think I'm still doing a pretty great job of reading what I have instead of buying more that I will never get too. And those paperbacks... I can't recommend that series enough. If your a PNR fan, you'll love 'em!

Added to my TBR

Vengeful Queen by Lili St. Germain (which I already own and have no intention of reading until the next book is out)
Violent Reign by Lili St. Germain
Beautiful Things Evil People Do by Kailee Reese Samuels

Not too bad. At least I didn't go crazy this month.

My Reading Stats

I read 12 books, 3006 pages this month, and 7 of those 12 books have been knocked off of my TBR. YAY ME!! So here's how I did overall this month:

What Else?

I didn't do anything extra this month. I'm still trying to find books I love and hoping that I won't fall into a slump again. I was supposed to do a reading challenge... I didn't. I wanted to read 20 books this month... I didn't. Maybe I'll do better in May.

Thanks for sticking around until the end :D I'm still looking for book recs, so if you have one you think I'll love, please let me know. I'm looking for extremely sexy Fantasy or Paranormal. And when I say sexy, I do mean descriptive to explicit scenes please. I'm grown and I don't need my sex to be watered down.

What are you looking forward to for May? I hope it's as amazing for us as we want it to be!

March 2021 Bookish Recap

March 31, 2021

March has reached its end, Spring is truly on its way, and I couldn't be more thrilled. My favorite season is Autumn but I can't complain when the weather gets milder. And here in Toronto, the weather is definitely getting warmer.

This post is all about what I read and did to contribute to the bookish community. I always feel weird writing these types of posts because I never know what to say. I don't really do much. I read books I think I'm going to love, fall in love with a few, and do what I can to support authors and other book bloggers. No biggie, but here goes...

The Best Book(s) of March

Unspoken by Ari Reavis is an amazing fantasy romance about forbidden love and a woman's fight for justice and her kingdom. The Evolution of Fae and Gods by Sawyer Bennett is book three of her urban fantasy Chronicles of the Veil series and the best of the bunch (so far). Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright has been recommended to me a million times and I'm so glad I finally read it. Step Into My Web by Cynthia Eden is a romantic suspense/thriller that kept me guessing and I'll definitely be continuing the series.

The other books I read were:
Dead Man's Ink Boxset by Callie Hart — 4 stars
A Discovery of Secrets and Fate by Sawyer Bennett — 4 stars
Mating Theory by Skye Warren — DNF
We Are All Found Things by Molly O'Keefe — 3 stars
Sex Material by Victoria Ashley — DNF
The Two Week Arrangement by Kendall Ryan — DNF
One to Take by Tia Louise — no rating
Rebel Hearts by Lili Valente — 3 stars
Savage Hearts by Lili Valente — 4 stars
It's Not Over by Grahame Claire — 4 stars
Shadow's Edge by J.T. Geissinger — 4 stars
Forsaking All Others by Janine Infante Bosco — 4 stars
A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole — 2 stars
Wicked Cravings by Suzanne Wright — 4 stars

Book Haul

I've been doing a really great job of keeping how much I buy down. I'm making strides in my TBR and I'm trying to only get what I have on there.

Added to my TBR

Save Me From the Dark by Cynthia Eden
A Battle of Blood and Stone by Sawyer Bennett
Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood
Vampire by Rebecca Zanetti
The Last Piece of His Heart by Emma Scott
Thick As Thieves by Sandra Brown
When He's Dark by Suzanne Wright

I did a terrible job of not adding to my TBR this month. I need to figure out a consequence for keeping this from happening again.

My Reading Stats

First of all, I read 18 books this month. WTH?! That's amazing and way better than anything I've done in about a year. I read 5627 pages and 5 of my reads came from my TBR. YAY ME!! So here's how I did overall this month:

Genre
Rating
Format

What Else?

I didn't do anything extra this month, but I have plans to participate in a reading challenge for April. I'm reading with the Romance Readers Reading Challenges group on Goodreads. I'm sure I'll have fun doing it like I did last time. I just have to figure out which books I'm going to read from my TBR to fit the reading prompts. Hopefully I'm not scrambling in the end :D

What are your hopes for April? I hope it's as amazing for us as we want it to be!

February 2021 Bookish Recap

March 15, 2021

I know, I know. I'm super late with this one. We're already halfway through March and here I come with a recap on what was great and fabulous over here in The Biblioholic's realm. I get it. But I'm here anyway because I seem to work on my own calendar and I'm treating today like it's March 1st.

I could go on and on about all that's happened in my life to delay this post, but I won't because it happened, it's past, and I'm ready to move on. I do promise that I will try to make a timely post for March's recap.
I still haven't read as much as I usually do and it's sad in a way, but it's also good. Reading less has made me appreciate the books I do read so much more and I can give time to each story that I couldn't give before. So in a way, reading less works for me. I found some amazing books in February and I can only hope to find equally awesome books for March.

The Best Book(s) of February

Forbidden Flame by Alison Aimes Conjugal Visits by Lani Lynn Vale

One is a scifi romance built around revenge while the other is an incredible story about true love.

The other books I read this month (all of them good) were:
The Young and the Sinner by V.T. Do — a new-to-me author (3 stars)
Trapped by Alison Aimes (4 stars)
The Cyborg's Secret Baby by Cynthia Sax (4 stars)
Stalkers Anthologya dark romance collection (3 stars)
Her Sexiest Mistake by Jill Shalvis — a new-to-me author (3.5 stars)

Book Haul

I've been doing exceptionally well on cutting down how much I buy each month. I did purchase some more signed books (more on that in a future post), but overall, I saved a lot of money as opposed to last year.

Added to my TBR

Falling Out of Hate With You by Lauren Rowe
Falling Into Love With You by Lauren Rowe
Rebellious by Kristy Marie

OMG you guys!! Look how good I did!! Three books??? My TBR is feeling lighter already!!

My Reading Stats

This month, I tried something new. I started putting my books into Google Sheets. I know, I'm probably one of the last readers to do this, but WOW why didn't anyone tell me how great it is to keep track of everything???

Okay, so here are some of my charts so we can see how I'm doing...

Out of a total of 8 books for February:

What Else?

I actually participated in AND completed a reading challenge this month. GO ME!! It was a monthly reading challenge with the Goodreads group called Romance Readers Reading Challenges. You can find all of their information HERE and their challenge for the month of March HERE.

I had a ton of fun doing it, especially when it came to the end of the month and I had to quickly find books to fit the challenge so I could finish it. I was planning to do one for March, but I'm probably going to wait until April and see what the prompts are.

Thanks for sticking around until the end :D I'm still looking for book recs, so if you have one you think I'll love, please let me know.

BTW... how was your February? And how is March treating you?

January 2021 Recap

February 01, 2021

It's a new year and I thought my reading would improve, but sadly... no. I guess having 2021 roll in didn't make my reading go any faster. I find I'm reading even less than usual. But at least I'm reading, so I'll continue to count my blessings.

I hope we all find amazing reads in February!

The Best of January
