#ManicMonday Reads for June 15th

June 15, 2020

Hosted by: Book Date
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile!

What I've just finished:

Never Leave Your Side by Ari Reavis

Ari Reavis is one of those authors who writes books that speak right to me. As if she's writing something personal between the two of us. Stories that touch on real life and real emotions and she does it beautifully every time. Never Leave Your Side is an instalove story that tackles a heartbreaking tragedy and explores how the characters deal with it and still find a way to hold on to their love.

Once a Myth by Pepper Winters

I've read practically everything Pepper Winters has written. I fell in love with her Indebted series (ahhhh Jethro), found rapture with her Monsters in the Dark series (have you met Q?), shivered over her Pure Corruption MC duet, bawled my eyes out with her Ribbon Duet, and genuinely found enjoyment with her standalones and other series.

When I saw sneak peeks of her upcoming Goddess Isles series, I planned to wait until all the books were out before I started one-clicking. But then I read this review by Kat Fenton from Kitty Kats Crazy About Books, and I knew I had to dive in. Fuck the wait! And I have no regrets because this series is AMAZING! Sullivan Sinclair buys women and turns them into every man's fantasy. What happens when his latest purchase is everything he's ever desired?

The Sun and Her Star by Dylan Allen

I've loved everything I've read from this author and for the most part, I loved this one too. However, I felt like she introduced a theme in this story that wasn't altogether necessary and when push came to shove, I didn't think she pushed hard enough with it. It was extremely slow burn and I'm actually not the biggest fan of those. I like sex. I'm grown and enjoy reading grown up books. So although I usually love the friends-to-lovers trope, this one wasn't one of my favorites.

What I'm reading right now:

Shane (Mallick Brothers #1) by Jessica Gadziala

It's been a while since I've read a book from this author and I'm really enjoying myself. Shane and his family are loansharks and enforcers in Jersey and each one of these men sound delicious. He's rough around the edges, but has the heart of a gentleman. I'm not really liking the heroine and unfortunately the author makes me share too much time in her perspective. If it weren't for how awesome Shane is, I'd probably give up.

I want to really meet the rest of the men of this series, so I'll probably be reading the other books.

So... what are YOU reading? Share your current read (or what you plan on reading) in the comments below.
