Down The TBR Hole #11

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The point of it is to help cull your reading lists down, or maybe push higher anticipated releases up on your TBR! And maybe you all can help me along the way, and tell me if you’ve loved or hated any of these!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

Infini (Aerial Ethereal #2) by Krista & Becca Ritchie
Avg rating: 4.18
Release: Jan. 31, 2017
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2NKMZfo

I added this one as a placeholder so I would know to start the series. It has such a neat concept, something I haven't read before so I consider it fresh. Gymnastics, acrobatics, two young adults and romance. Sign me up!

Furious Rush (Furious Rush #1) by S.C. Stephens
Avg rating: 3.67
Release: August 23, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DN6PCq

Obviously I was one of the many who loved this author's Thoughtless series. So when I saw she was starting a new series, I jumped all over it. However, after going through some of the reviews from reviewers I trust, I'm thinking that I'll end up not loving this one so much 😥

Verdict: Delete

The Other Side by Belle Aurora
Avg rating: 3.81
Release: ???

The author announced that this would be her NaNoWriMo novel but since that announcement in 2015, nothing has been mentioned about this book. Beyond a cover reveal, there's nothing to be found. I was really looking forward to it too!

Verdict: Delete

Bad Nanny (The Bad Nanny Trilogy #1) by C.M. Stunich
Avg rating: 3.59
Release: Nov. 22, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DFMX3O

I really liked the blurb on this one. The last guy to watch your kids becomes the nanny. It's something I've never read before and I'm always up for something new. But all three books are about the same couple and reviews on this one aren't the best. I don't always rely on reviews, but when it's an author I'm not wholly familiar with, I can't help it. And because I've promised myself that I'll only keep books that I'll actually read, this one has to go. If it comes up again as a recommendation, I'm not against reading it.

Wednesday by Kendall Ryan
Avg rating: 3.68
Release: May 23, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DFVAvd

I haven't met a book by Kendall Ryan that I didn't like. This one sounds a lot more steamier than her norm and I want to see what she's done with it. Besides, it's a novella so it's super short.

The Prince & The Player (Dirty Players #1) by Tia Louise
Avg rating: 3.91
Release: May 17, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2R8levs (currently FREE)

I actually already read this. The author has put the duet about Zelda and Rowan together and I was lucky enough to read them. I wonder if I should put my review on this one and call it a read...

Verdict: Delete

Cash Remington and the Missing Heiress (Sexy Dreadfuls #1) by Celia Aaron
Avg rating: 3.80
Release: May 17, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2NMUHpn (FREE in KU)

This is a different kind of story from this author and from the moment she mentioned her new hero, Cash Remington, I wanted more. I'm sure it's one sexy hot adventure!

Je Suis a Toi (Monsters in the Dark #3.5) by Pepper Winters
Avg rating: 4.39
Release: May 27, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2zD7H8v

How can I possibly turn down another installment of the story of Q and his esclave? I absolutely loved this series and I'm always up for reading more of it. I'm not sure why I haven't read this one yet.

Verdict: Keep

Prime Minister (Frisky Beavers #1) by Ainsley Booth & Sadie Haller
Avg rating: 4.02
Release: May 31, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2xXLz6K

This is one of the ones sitting on my kindle. I wanted to read this as soon as it came out. As a Canadian, I try to read as much romance as I can from Canadian authors, just to try and give them equal representation in the bloggersphere.

Verdict: Keep

Priceless (Forbidden Men #8) by Linda Kage
Avg rating: 4.30
Release: May 21, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2xUgHE2

I've never read anything from this author and this book really caught my attention. I'm not a super fan of new adult books, but the heroine has cerebral palsy and I really want to see how the author incorporates this without it just being a mechanism to tug at the heart strings.

Verdict: Keep

Untitled (Stain #1.5) by Francette Phal
It was supposed to release Feb. 2016

I have no idea when this will be released, if ever. I really enjoyed the first book and although I wasn't a huge fan of the way it ended, I was okay with it because I was looking forward to reading a novella about the couple, Aylee and Maddox. But there is absolutely no news about this becoming a reality! 😭😭😭

Verdict: Delete - if I see something about it, I'll add it again

Infinity (Xandrian Series #1) by Allaina Daniels
Avg rating: 4.52
Release: August 13, 2015
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2IsXcaE

I can only find this book in paperback. And... there is no news with regards to when or if the next book will be released. But this one was recommended to me and I do have a love for books that deal with magic so I'll still read it and hope another book from the series is forthcoming.

Verdict: Keep

Dethroning the King (The Laws of Kings #2) by Jennifer Loren
Avg rating: 4.21
Release: Oct. 2, 2015
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2OYQrQj

I didn't love the first book but I really liked the hero... enough to want to read more about him. I also want to find out how the author resolves the conflict that wasn't finished in the last book.

Verdict: Keep

One by Jewel E. Ann
Avg rating: 4.39
Release: July 28, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2N8FWrN (FREE in KU)

When I heard that there would be a spin-off book for the Jack & Jill series, I got so excited. I LOVED that series. I can't wait to read this. I don't even know why I keep putting it off! 🤔

Verdict: Keep

Dark Sexy Knight (A Modern Fairytale #4) by Katy Regnery
Avg rating: 4.03
Release: June 5, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2R5R2Bf

It's inspired by Camelot, which I find so freaking hot. I've read a few of the books in this series and enjoyed the heck out of them. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll love this one too. I'm a huge fan of fairytale retellings, so if you know of any I should read, please let me know!!

Verdict: Keep

Into the Deep (Into the Deep #1) by Samantha Young
Avg rating: 4.08
Release: Aug. 9, 2013
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2OmS4u2 (FREE in KU)

I initially added this because it is a second chance romance and I LOVE those. However, I'm now realizing that it's a love triangle and I don't love those so much. I'll read them, but I'm not a big fan. To me, if the heroine is the love of the hero's life, then there's no need for another girl. And to lead both of them on speaks loudly of your doucheyness. Based on quite a few reviews of this book, the hero not only has a new girlfriend, he finds ways to flaunt said girlfriend in the face of "the love of his life"! And his "love" just takes it. After he abandoned her years ago without an explanation!! I can envision myself ranting about this book.

He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker
Avg rating: 3.97
Release: Feb. 2, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2OeBmgr

I'm a huge fan of thrillers and it was a romantic thriller that got me back into the world of romance. So when I see one get such high ratings from my GR friends, I can't pass on it. I wonder how the heroine will escape the killer?

Verdict: Keep

Screwmates by Kayti McGee
Avg rating: 3.40
Release: Jan. 24, 2017
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2R7aGwx

I've read SO MANY books with the roommates-to-lovers trope that it almost feels overdone. However, I've never read anything from this author before so maybe I should give her a chance to revive my love for this trope.

Verdict: Keep

And that's it for this edition of keeping it real with my TBR. Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Are any of them on your TBR and do you agree with my verdicts? I hope your TBR continues to flourish!! Happy reading!! xoxo
