Down The TBR Hole #17

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The point of it is to help cull your reading lists down, or maybe push higher anticipated releases up on your TBR! And maybe you all can help me along the way, and tell me if you’ve loved or hated any of these!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

Neighbors (Twin Estates #1) by Stylo Fantôme
Avg rating: 4.10/Release: September 24, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2RP2a51 (FREE in KU)

Here's the thing... I've already read this book, just like I read the ones following it. I know I wrote a review for it, but where it is I couldn't tell ya. I do have it sitting on my kindle so I guess I can write another review for it. If I must.
Verdict: Keep (for review)

Ruthless (Lawless #1) by Lexi Blake
Avg rating: 4.09/Release: August 9, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2RPeGl3

It's got a revenge plot and those things are like Lays chips to me. I can never have enough. Everyone and their mama tells me how amazing this author is, and I have enjoyed what little of her I've read, so I hope I'll love this. I'm not sure when I'll read it though, considering the fact that it's $8.99 CDN in the Kindle Store. Maybe I'll find it at a discount in a bookstore or in the library. That price is just a little too steep for me with an author I'm not wholly familiar with.

Bad Judgment by Meghan March
Avg rating: 4.01/Release: August 22, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2RPfR3X

Enemies-to-lovers romances make for some of the hottest stories I've ever read. It's something about the tension between the characters that builds and builds until it boils over. HOT!!

Wicked Sexy (Wicked Games #2) by J.T. Geissinger
Avg rating: 4.35/Release: July 19, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2PMKpG4 (FREE in KU)

This author has introduced two badass characters - he's ex-Special Ops and she's a hacker. Anything after that is just bonus!
Verdict: Keep

Jed Had to Die by Tara Sivec
Avg rating: 4.18/Release: November 1, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2T22GxG

The title alone grabbed my attention. Add to that the fact that I've loved everything I've read from this author and it's no wonder this book made it's way to my TBR. The blurb still sounds funny to me and I'm excited to get my laugh on!
Verdict: Keep

Twisted Bond (Holly Woods Files #1) by Emma Hart
Avg rating: 4.07/Release: June 11, 2015
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2Fg2Grk

I remember the lead up to the release of this book. I wasn't a blogger but I shared a lot of posts for promo. I was all set to one-click it and then I forgot somehow. I'm still very interested in reading this series. Enemies-to-lovers and murders and family fun sounds like a good time!
Verdict: Keep

The Thrill Of It (No Regrets #1) by Lauren Blakely
Avg rating: 3.88/Release: November 21, 2013
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2AZ2VTp

I can never turn down a book from Lauren Blakely. Her books are steamy, funny, and romantic. Who could refuse that combination? Every time I read a book of hers, I finish it feeling satisfied with the journey.

Swear On This Life by Renée Carlino
Avg rating: 4.14/Release: August 9, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2T1ocTu

I've only read a couple of books from this author and they were pretty good. The tone this author uses is unlike anything I've read from anyone else. It almost reads more like contemporary fiction with a touch of romance. Does that make it Chick Lit?
Verdict: Keep

Boss (The Bishop Brothers #1) by R.K. Lilley
Avg rating: 3.85/Release: ???

I'm going to assume that since this book has no cover, there are no definite plans for its release. It's been so long since I've read a book from this author and when I saw this one pop up, I had to add it. I want to know why it hasn't been written. I think I'll make a note of it somewhere so I can keep checking if there's any activity on it.

Cement Heart (Viper's Heart #1) by Beth Ehemann
Avg rating: 4.16/Release: March 15, 2015
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DxKxmS (FREE in KU)

I've never read anything from this author (that I can think of) but I've heard some amazing things. I figured it would be a good idea to start a series from the beginning and this one sounds freaking good! I know that a sports romance will fit in nicely with my other reads.

King of Wall Street by Louise Bay
Avg rating: 4.05/Release: August 22, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2POwsHx

I haven't met a book from this author that I didn't like. Swoon-worthy heroes and heroines that I don't absolutely hate 😉. And how could I possibly resist a story about a single father? I just know that this book is going to win over my tepid heart.
Verdict: Keep

Quiver (Revenge #1) by Trevion Burns
Avg rating: 4.27/Release: August 7, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2z2f1d3 (FREE in KU)

I've never heard about this author but a friend of mine who barely reads recommended it and so I added it to my TBR. After re-reading the blurb and peeking at a couple of reviews, I'm still pretty interested in reading this interracial erotic thriller. I'm crossing my fingers that I end up loving it.

Settling The Score (The Summer Games #1) by R.S. Grey
Avg rating: 4.03/Release: May 2, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DdJmrR (FREE in KU)

I'm always hesitant about reading anything from this author. I haven't hated any of her books, but I haven't loved them either. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this opinion, but thems the facts. I keep waiting for the one book from her that will turn the tide because she seems so sweet and I want to be a fan. I really do.

Fight For Me (Fight For Me #1) by Jessica Linden
Avg rating: 3.76/Release: August 30, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2Dc1pPo

I've never heard of this author before. I actually don't even remember how this book ended up on my reading list. I do like my MMA fighter romances but I know nothing about this author's writing and I've got enough books to get through to bother giving her a chance. I know this sounds bad, but I give lots of new authors a chance. Maybe this one will come up again sometime.

It's a Fugly Life (Fugly #2) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Avg rating: 3.91/Release: October 11, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DwoZXX

I was ok with the first book. I hated the heroine but I enjoyed the premise of the plot. However, now it seems she's gotten too big for her britches. You thought you were ugly, the most gorgeous man alive wants you, and now you think you're super special? Yeah... no. I'll give this a hard pass. I enjoy this author most of the time, but I don't need to read ALL of her books.

Protection Crisis (Special Forces: Operation Alpha) by Rochelle Paige
Avg rating: 3.96/Release: July 19, 2016
I can't find a purchase link for this book

I've only read one book by this author before. It was a novella and part of an anthology series and I liked it. It was super sweet and I wouldn't mind getting the chance to read more from her. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that this book will be the one.

24690 (24690 #1) by A.A. Dark
Avg rating: 3.97/Release: July 22, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2OAsSMD (FREE in KU)

This is a new-to-me author and when I asked my reading friends for a dark romance recommendation, this particular book got a lot of hits. I have been warned that some copies had atrocious editing issues and I can be a grammar/punctuation nazi so I hope whichever copy I get has the kinks worked out.
Verdict: Keep

Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland #1) by Kristen Ashley
Avg rating: 4.17/Release: August 15, 2011
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2DvwluJ

Not a lot of people know this but Kristen Ashley is one of the authors that I've promised myself to read their entire book list. I'm not sure why I made this vow, but I fully intend to keep it. This author follows a formula that really speaks to me (gotta love those alphas and their grunts, right?) and I hope I find more hits than misses.
Verdict: Keep

El Diablo (The Devil #1) by M. Robinson
Avg rating: 4.19/Release: August 30, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2AYlWFE (FREE in KU)

I haven't read a book from this author in a very long time. I do remember that what I have read was bloody fantastic. This particular story has gotten some great reviews and I hope I love it so that I can give it a rave myself. Anti-heroes are my weakness and this man seems to be exactly what I love most about them.
Verdict: Keep

Untimely You by K. Webster
Avg rating: 4.14/Release: July 22, 2016
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2SZrCWI (FREE in KU)

What can I say? I love K. Webster. LOVE HER!! She wins when she writes dark and twisted stories, taboo tales, and contemporary love. And I feel like I was lucky enough to sample all of them. I've checked with my safety gang and I've been told that this book does test the boundaries. There is a scene of the H with his wife in flashback and this new relationship happens while the wife is still somewhat in the picture. It's complicated and deserves to be told as it unfolds in the plot. I just hope I don't hate it.
Verdict: Keep

I'm just glad I was able to find a few books to remove from my TBR. Wait... that sounds bad. I don't mean that I'm happy to delete them, however, I'm happy to have a lighter TBR, even if it's by a few books. Still sounds bad. Ah well.

And that's it for this edition of keeping it real with my TBR. Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Are any of them on your TBR and do you agree with my verdicts? I hope your TBR continues to flourish!! Happy reading!! xoxo
