Down The TBR Hole #1

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The point of it is to help cull your reading lists down, or maybe push higher anticipated releases up on your TBR! And maybe you all can help me along the way, and tell me if you’ve loved or hated any of these!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

Okay, so here goes... I've been adding books since I joined Goodreads in 2015 so I'm sure there will be plenty of books I've forgotten were even on my tbr 🤔

Over Us, Over You by Whitney G.
Added: May 14, 2015
Rating avg: 3.63

I've been a huge fan of Whitney G.'s ever since I read her Reasonable Doubt series. Then I read her Mid-Life Love series and it was a wrap. It was confirmed that this sista could write and I was going to be a big fan. So it's obvious why I added this book to my list. But I don't think I'm going to keep this one on my TBR. Maybe I'll find it again one day. Maybe I won't.

Rose by Sydney Landon
Added: June 6, 2015
Rating avg: 4.22

I saw this on my TBR and was absolutely baffled because I thought I read it already. I loved Lucian and Lia's story and every glimpse of Rose I got to see. Rose was always described as a crazy, gun-toting, southern belle and I really wanted to get her story to witness the dichotomy myself. I can't believe I forgot to devour this!
Verdict: Keep

Revived by Samantha Towle
Added: June 6, 2015
Rating avg: 4.12

You know when you read the first book in a series (a standalone) and you enjoy it so much that you can't wait to get to know the side characters a little better? That's why I added this book. After reading Revved, I wanted to know more about the injured Brazilian race car driver and read his happy ending. I still do!
Verdict: Keep

To Fix You by Samantha Towle
Added: June 6, 2015
Rating avg: 3.90

I think this one was added as more of a hype thing than anything else. A single father who works as a gigolo to support his daughter? See I love single daddy books, but not one where the man has lost count with how many women he's slept with. Definitely more than 500. WTF?! Yeah, this has the sort of plot I avoid like an STD.

Fighting For Forever by JB Salsbury
Added: June 18, 2015
Rating avg: 4.27

Another case of 'I thought I read this already'. I really did because I read all of the other books in the series. I think I added this waiting for the release date (June 23rd) and forgot all about it. Ah well, at least it sits on my TBR as a reminder, right? Might as well finish off the series as I enjoyed it a lot!
Verdict: Keep

Real Ugly by C.M. Stunich
Added: June 18, 2015
Rating avg: 3.85

I'm all for reading a rocker romance, but with this one, I think I'm going to take the warnings seriously. I'm not into my protagonists being drug addicts. Besides the drama that seems to abound throughout the plot, the drug aspect would probably distract me.
Verdict: Delete

Pawn (Volume 3) by Maya St. James
Added: June 19, 2015
Rating avg: 3.55

I'm not even sure how this book got a rating because as far as I can tell it was never published. It's been 3 years and this book cannot be found. So although I enjoyed the first two books of the series, I think it's time to give up on the hope of finishing this trilogy.
Verdict: Delete

Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye
Added: June 24, 2015
Rating avg: 3.86

I really like the concept of this book. Two strangers, trapped in a dark elevator, with no idea what the other person looks like. They get to know each other without distractions. It's short and it looks hot, so why not?
Verdict: Keep

Never Never by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher
Added: July 10, 2015
Rating avg: 4.11

I still like the idea of this book. Without reading the reviews I have no clue what it's really about. Does the boy have amnesia? Was there a traumatic event? Guess I have to read it to find out, huh?
Verdict: Keep

Unhinged by Timberlyn Scott (Nicole Edwards)
Added: July 10, 2015
Rating avg: 4.06

Being honest, there's nothing about the blurb that really grabs me. Even after going through some of the reviews, I'm just not that interested. It might be 'the book' for some - tatted and pierced hero and unassuming girl - but I've read this theme before and this isn't making me want to go back for another dose.
Verdict: Delete

So there you have it! The 10 oldest books on my TBR. I'm loving this challenge. If I didn't do this, I probably would never take the time to go through these books and whittle down my to-read list. Did any of these books make your list? Which would you keep or delete? Let me know because I would love to see where we're similar and where we differ. In the meantime... Happy Reading! 💜💜💜
