MY REVIEW

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There’s nothing like a holiday story to get my festive juices flowing and R.R. Banks gave us a sweet one. I’m still pretty new to his writing, but I love how he brings his characters to life. In The Christmas Surprise, both Holly and Graham were dealing with broken hearts and hopes for a second chance at love. Originally, their plans didn’t include each other, but plans change, don’t they? Especially with a little helping hand of serendipity.

To be honest, as wonderful as this author’s writing was, I didn’t fall in love with this story, only because I didn’t fall in love with it’s characters. Well, really only one character. Graham was created just the way I like my heroes. Compassionate, honorable, successful, generous, and dedicated. However, Holly rubbed my nerves raw from beginning to end. I kept hoping for a moment of redemption, but maybe I’m just picky because I couldn’t find one. Overall, Graham and his son, Charlie, made this story work and I couldn’t get enough of them.
