Kyle, one of the alpha men of Walker Security, is hot, bothered, and intense, and when Myla lands in his line of fire, she'll soon learn her secrets, and her passion, belong to him.

Myla is beautiful, a dove with clipped wings, captive by the wolf, a rich and powerful man. One look into her eyes and Kyle could see the pain, the fear... the desperation. Or so it seems. He's been fooled before by a woman and it cost him everything and everyone he loved. He won't be fooled again.

*This is a standalone book, as with the other books in the Walker Security series you do not have to read the entire series to enjoy this book.

MY REVIEW

"He's the apple in the Garden of Eden, and Michael Alvarez is the snake tempting me to take a bite."

Those words couldn't be more true to describe this story. Myla has found herself stuck between a rock and a hard place. A year ago, a chance encounter with Alvarez, the mysterious leader of a drug cartel, plunged her into a life of debauchery, manipulation and fear. Desperate to keep her last surviving relative (her big sister) safe, she relies on her wit and surprisingly successful acting abilities to figure a way out of her predicament. Trusting no one becomes a lot harder when Alvarez hires Kyle to protect her. After believing Myla to be dead, Kyle and the other men of Walker Security were determined to bring Alvarez and his entire cartel to its knees in the name of justice. No one expected the person Kyle went undercover to protect to be Myla.

I liked the instant connection between the characters. Although I didn't really understand Myla and I can't really pinpoint why she rubbed me the wrong way at times, I did admire the way the author characterized her. She had integrity, compassion, intelligence, and ambition in spades. As for Kyle... I couldn't get enough of this man. He was obviously incredibly alpha, protective, and honorable. The way he kept putting himself on the line in order to keep Myla safe was what really got me in the feels.

If I had to list one issue I had with the story, it would be that I wanted more time to be spent with these two characters as a couple. Their relationship started in secret while she was practically owned by Alvarez and I was hoping their relationship would be explored once it was out in the open, through an epilogue or something. Regardless, this story gave me a real taste for these Walker Security men and as this was my first read from the series, I'm eager to get to know each of them a little better.
