Vicki Calvetti made it out of the mob—or so she hoped. But when the old family hitman, the FBI, the Justice Department, and a smoking hot man from her past crash land on her doorstep, she learns she's not quite done.

An undercover cop chasing revenge, Blake Reilly gets the shock of his life when Vicki walks back into his life and into his club full of more drug dealers than a pharmaceutical convention.

Catching up doesn’t take long, and their undeniable chemistry is full-speed-ahead until someone ends up dead, putting both their lives at risk unless Vicki can remember the secrets she paid to forget.

MY REVIEW

This was a first time read from this author but I can imagine picking up another one of her books based on my enjoyment with this one.

What I liked:
╰☆╮the strength of Victoria's character. She took nothing lying down and was a little force of nature.
╰☆╮Blake. I liked every single thing about him.
╰☆╮the sexual tension and chemistry between the main characters.
╰☆╮the fact that the main characters had a shared history
╰☆╮character development - Well... sorta. Victoria's seemed more thorough while Blake's was pretty vague.
╰☆╮the action and suspense of the plot. I was in each moment and couldn't predict the way things would turn out.
╰☆╮the side characters such as Eddie and Mick. I'm wondering if Mick will be getting his own story?

What I didn't like:
╰☆╮Victoria. I'm sorry, but she took abrasiveness and her aggression to new heights. I'm not sure how Blake could stand her. Glutton for punishment much? Most of her thoughts and actions and feelings and reactions were completely off base, OTT, and unnecessary. I respected her loyalty to her friends/family, but beyond that, I couldn't find much about her to like.
╰☆╮I was unsatisfied with the ending. It felt both rushed and unfinished. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally. Maybe it was a way for the story to lead into another book? If so, will the main characters remain the same? Maybe give the readers some closure? Because there is still some unfinished business...

Overall, this was an entertaining suspenseful read and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a little thrill!
